I just turned 25 Monday and just registered for classes a couple days ago. As I was talking to my counselor I realized that by the time I finish my associates degree I'll be about 28. So many prereqs I have to take. Im starting out at the lowest level Math that I can't even tall until spring semester. This is just really bothering and stressing my out thinking about it. If I do decide to get my BSN ill be about 30 smh! Anyone else thats a little older starting school feel this way? What do you do to reassure yourself? Im feeling down in the dumps.
You're in your 20's and worrying about starting school at your age....!?! I graduated nursing school a month after my 50th birthday!! You're never too old. Regardless of how old you are, if you wanna do it, do it. You're gonna reach 28 eventually anyway, wouldn't it be better getting there and accomplishing what you want than getting there and thinking about how you regret not doing it?
I started nursing in Mexico, when I was 20, but none of the credits were transferable. Anyway, I'm turning 27 in a month-ish, I just started back to school this year, and taking the hesi in a few days. I don't think late 20's is old at all. In my opinion, when I first started nursing, I was not emotionally ready for nursing school, and clinicals. In Mexico, there was so much gore, and being so young, I just couldn't take it. Now, after working in the lab and seeing a lot in the healthcare field, I feel more capable to start as a nurse, and less afraid. :) Good luck!
You'll eventually be 28 anyway, so you may as well get a degree on the way there.
This is exactly how I feel.
OP, I'll be 29-30 by the time I graduate with my BSN. At first it was hard because I am in this weird place with my current career. I have 5 years experience as a financial analyst, and instead of wanting to move up in my career (to better paying jobs, different jobs etc), I'm sitting still asking myself "is this really it?". I noticed a few years back I started to drag my feet. My current career is NOT "enough" to keep me going. Sometimes people have this realization going into their first degree (I sure didn't), and some people have it when they're 60.
Let's say you'll be late 20's-early 30's when you graduate like me. You have 30-40 (somewhere in between there, I suppose depending on your health) more years of WORK left in your career. When you realize that, you realize just how young you are. When my husband explained it to me this way, it all seemed like a very clear choice. I will look back and think I was silly for thinking I was "old" in my 20's.

I am sorry. No disrespect. But I kind of laughed when I saw you will be 30 when you get your BSN and said that's old.
I started in 2011 with prerequisites. I graduated in may 2016. I'm 44.
