starting salary for new icu nurses?

Published

hello, im currently a bsn student and would like to obtain a position in an icu upon graduation. i was just curious about the starting salaries for new icu nurses in your area? thanks!

I just started at the university of utah at 19.00/hr

Here is a website that lets you plunk in your own info and get a free estimate (+/- $3, apparently) of what you might expect.

I put in my data and learned I might expect $24 an hour.

Seems high for someone with no experience and an ASN. (I didn't tell enter my other info, which might have raised the estimate....)

Good luck!

Specializes in Critical Care, ER.

I just started at Washington Hospital Center at $24/hr

$22 - $23 per hour in the Cleveland OH area.

Specializes in ICU, psych, corrections.

I just signed my contract for an ICU position as a soon-to-be ASN Graduate Nurse for $26.35/hour (that's with the 10% night diff. thrown in). The hospital closer to my house would pay me $28/hour for the same shifts I will be working, but it's a smaller, private hospital with no trauma.

Melanie :p

Most of the hospitals around here (Mississippi) start new grads (in any area) at $19.55/h

They work 8h shifts, so $2 diff for 3-11, and $3 diff for 11-7

Specializes in SRNA.

California (Bay Area, SF-ish) is about $33.00-36.00 to start days and then if you work nights its about 15% diff which works out to $38-41.00. But we have the high cost of housing here.

Michigan nurses in the Detroit/Ann Arbor periphery can expect 20-22.25 per hour. Differentials vary as well.

Where I work they start new grads at $24/hr...
