Starting my prerequisites in May...anyone else?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I start my classes may 14th at Brevard community college. I am taking the first 3 classes online. One is a math prep class because I scored low on my placement test. Then I am also take psychology and communication 1. I'm a little scared after watching so many videos on nursing school that I need to get straight A's to get in to the program. I will try my best but I havent been to school in so long. Is anyone else just starting the process like me?

I live in Oklahoma although my boyfriend lives in Brevard.( had to reply since u live in Brevard haha) I will be finishing my last two pre-reqs before I start BSN program in Oklahoma. You don't need straight A's to get in nursing school, but doing well scoring in the A -B range will help you get there. I have a 3.1 right now and I got accepted into nursing. But I also got my AS in Allied Health don't think it helps much just shows you got all your pre-reqs out the way. I think I could've got in sooner of I scored higher on the ACT I only made a 20 and was denied my first year of applying (it took me 1 try before I got accepted after I got my degree go-figure). I would say take the ACT again and that will help your chances ALOT. Jus keep your sconce GpA up and you will be fine :) good luck on your journey to becoming a nurse

thanks a lot. I'm hoping with my determination and how bad I want to be a nurse I will get past my fear of failure. I have not been to school since I was 15 , I am now 26. My boyfriend is working non stop so that I can be a full time student, so I hope I can do everything for our future that I want to. Thanks for the words of encouragement. Good luck to you :)

I live in GA and I started January. Im taking a & p 1 and comp 1. I am really enjoying it so far. Oh yeah I'm a African American male, not that that matters I just wanted to let you know.

I'm starting my pre-reqs this summer too. I'm taking A&P and Lifespan Psych. I am 17 years out of college so this will be a challenge for sure! I will have a year of pre-reqs before I can attend nursing school. I'm going into an ASBN program. It's exciting and scary for sure!

Good luck! We can do this!

Like you, I am 18 years out of school. I have to re-take many of the pre-reqs I already completed years ago because they are now "too old" to be accepted. Taking 4 classes this summer and 6 in the fall, so I will be applying in January for a seat in the Fall 2013 nursing program.

You're right...we CAN do this!!! :D

Is a&p hard so far? I'm not worried about comm, but I am taking these first classes online. My A&p Will be in fall

Good luck to you :) I will also have a full year of pre reqs, and I am really hoping that I get accepted into the program for next year. I also need to do all the little things to get extra points towards acceptance, like attending nursing orientation, and speaking with a health science advisor. Also CPR class. I'm ready to do this to the max :) Never been an "A" student, but i'm sure going to try :)

A&P is a LOT of memorization!!! My school has Anatomy & Physiology as separate classes. But when I took it in 1987, it was a combined A&P class. There are a lot of great online resources for A&P. The best one I've found is this one: Anatomy and Physiology Learning Modules - CEHD - U of M

I've found it to be an excellent refresher!

Thanks a lot :)

I'm starting in May as well. I have to take the "first year experience" and English Comp 1. I couldn't take Summer II because my loans didn't cover it. In Fall, I'm taking A&P I, College Algebra, Intro to Psychology, and English Comp II. I'm so excited to finally start on my pre-reqs!

I know, I feel so excited that I'm looking online at everything nursing I can :) Thanks for your input! Good luck in those classes!
