Starting pre-req this summer

Anyone else there and any tips?

Did you like Psych 101? I am being brave and going straight into Lifespan Psych without taking Psych 101. Wish me luck! Rayne215 Maybe we can help each other in lifespan!? Looks like we have the same plan as to when to start NS. I am already freakin out for A&P. I start it this fall. Eeek! I have already bought a cliffnotes study book and some flashcards to get ready.

I'm starting prerequisites, too! I'm taking statistics this summer. The community college here is kind of sporifice with its offerings, so it was the only one that was available for the summer. The university is better but super expensive. I'm taking biology in the fall and probably something else, nutrition, maybe? I've only been out of school for a few years, but I'm still nervous. My last couple of years of college were journalism classes, so it'll be completely different.

One thing that I remember that helped me in school was to come up with creative ways to study. Whenever I had group projects where we had to create some kind of game or presentation, it was always the chapter I remembered the best. So, maybe if you come up with some kind of fun, artsy project for a particularly difficult subject in your classes, it'll help it stand out.

hannahjean5-my school required you to take intro to pysch before life span so I took both. Life span isn't hard though so you should be fine. Good luck.

Hello! I'm planning on starting my pre requisites in the fall. I have a boat load of classes to take. It seems like most of you are taking some classes online. Is it cheaper than taking it at a community college? These are the classes that I have to take, can someone please let me know which ones are easy enough to take online?

A&P 1, 2

Chemistry (must take this in a classroom setting LOL)

Microbiology

Statistics

Develeopmental Psychology

Hey there...

I'm almost done with my prereqs (YAY!) I am taking Chem this summer then A&PII & Medical terminology in the fall. After those classes i will be officially done with them all.

My other science classes were a few years old but luckily the head of the nursing program made an exception for me to not have to retake them again...Talk about being thankful.

i am attending a community college adn program. the only "prerequisites" that my school requires are a&p i and general psychology. however, our admittance to the program is based on the number of points that you have earned. it is not possible to have to needed amount of points (10+) without taking other "suggested" classes (a&p ii, microbiology, human growth, microcomputer, and english 1301, humanities). this spring i took: general psychology, eng. 1301, and microcomputer (if i would have known, i would have taken all three of these classes online).

if you are looking to do as many courses online as possible, i would suggest classes such your psychologies, medical terminology, computer, and english. i have not yet taken a&p and my school does not require chemistry; however, i would suspect that these would be difficult classes without lecture and lab. i suppose it all depends on the type of learner you are (i.e auditory, visual, kinesthetic etc.).

best of luck!

Developmental psych is a piece of cake...lots of theories. And if you've lived a little while, you can always put a face with a different theory.

I am starting my Community Colleges Pre-Nursing Program fall but I am still taking some of my prereqs online this summer that way I will be ahead in the fall. I will be graduating from HS June the 11th and while in HS I did college dual enrollment classes and an AP class and Test. So far I have accumulated 6.00 credit hours thorugh dual enrolment wher I took PSY 150 (General Psychology) and CIS 110 (Intro to Computers) which are pre-reqs for nursing schools in NC. I took the AP (Advanced Placement) English Language and Composition test last year in the 11th grade and scored a 3 on it and recieved credit for my first college English (English 111). This summer I plan to take either: A&P I and ACA -Study Skills for Success (Required for all new college students). or English 112 and ACA or English 112 and Developmental PSY (PSY 241). Schools down here in NC just make most of the non-nursing course pre-reqs. Mine are as follows (in the order I plan to take them):Summer 2010:Intro to SociologyEnglish 112 Developmental Psy 241ACA_ Study skills and SuccessFall 2010:A&P I HUM 115: Critical thinkingor I can take Developmental Psych and ACA with the 2 classes listed above.Spring:A&PIIOr I can wait and take Developmental Psy with this classSummer: Microbiology and any other courses that might help me when I enter an RN to BSN program about a year or 2 after getting my ADN.Fall:Hopefully Nursing School!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Yes!!!!!! Class of 2013!!!!!!!!!!! One thing that helped me was knowing ecactly what classes were required of me. I have a copy of the full nursing curriculum of every school I want to attend and most are very similar only having one or two class requirement differences. I highlight every non nursing class on the curriculm and figure which I can take to make it easier on me when I start those mind-wrenching Nursing classes! Knowing what I needed and giving myself the time (this summer to next summer) to complete them, I was able to make a very flexible schedule that would allow me to focus on my harder subjects i.e A&P's Micro etc!!! Try that I hope it helps!!! How we both make it.

I just signed up for lifespan psych and speech along with the CNA prgm. Along with working it's gonna be tough but I know I can do it. Just pray that I stay sane!:yeah:

Wow PatMac10. Seems like you know just what you want! Good luck!

Good luck! That seems like a pretty full load for fall if you ask me! I have my schedule down to taking 3 classes this summer and then the following 3 quarters I will only have to take 2 classes per quarter. There is no way I can have the normal course load with all the lab classes that are involved and still work. This summer I am taking Lifespan as you know, speech, and a CNA cert. class. This fall I'm gonna take AP 1, and culteral anthropology (my school lets us sub intro to sociology for anthro)
