Starting pay for new rn

I am a little north of you, in Flint, but I started at Genesys (not as a Graduate Nurse-as I was already licensed) as a new RN at $27.742/hour. Shift differentials were 7% for 2nd shift and 8% for 3rd shift. I but I was quite dissapointed at the amount of money taken out of my check for union dues and initiation fees. In my first 6 months of employment, I was docked over $700.00. I also worked for the Peplinski Group at a LTC facility as a LPN and RN......starting pay at the time for LPNs was $24.75/hour-no diffs, and $29.00/hour for RNs. I know it isn't in the exact area you're talking about, but thought it might help. Make it a good day:)

Absolutely! Sorry about that. I'm at the Medilodge of Sterling Heights. I also heard that Clinton Aire is hiring, I believe they're located on 17 mile road, not sure of the cross streets. I applied for Medilodge on Craigslist believe it or not and they called me a week later. You can also walk in and fill out an application. Nursing homes seem to be hungry for RN's. They have a lot of LPN's employed there. Good luck!

Update...as of Jan 24, Medilodge is now hiring new RN's at 30/hr & 31/hr for nurses with previous LTC experience.

I have basic membership so I can't reply to PM:mad:

The pt to nurse ratio can be as great as 34:1. I'm fairly new, graduated in Aug, started there in Nov. On my last unit it took me a few weeks to learn my residents so it took me up to 4hrs to pass meds. On my new unit I have to learn the residents all over so I'm passing meds for 2-3 hrs somedays b/c residents are more independent on this unit. I like the fact that management is very accessible however I do feel like I'm not learning a thing, thinking is not encouraged on most units. I was taught to "think before doing" at this place its more task oriented. I'm still actively applying to other facilities. I'm working here because the hospital jobs that are close to my home require at least one years experience.

The shifts are as follows 7-3p, 3-11p and 11p7a for 8hr RN's. 7a-7p, 7p-7a for 12 hr nurses. I don't believe they are currently seeking day staff.

Another downside is that you cannot have any type of electrical device. And resources are scarce or outdated. Management has assured us that this is temporary and they will be wireless and updated by August. There is a huge turn around for RN's there b/c in my opinion and many others your growth is stunted.

Upside, if you have no experience and you need a job with steady good pay until you find your desired position go for it.

Benefits are based on the "cafe plan", the copays and out of pocket are quite expensive to me. It's a complicated formula that the benefits rep will have to explain to you.

Hi, what is the starting pay rate for the lpns?

Hello,

I quit Medilodge back in April but as far as I know they were not hiring new lpn's. Martha T Berry is hiring lpn's and I believe the starting rate is about 22/hr for full time employment. You can access their website here http://www.macombcountymi.gov/marthatberry/index.htm
