I am sooo excited! I will be in the first nights/weekends session at the Dallas Nursing Institute (formerly North Texas Professional Career Institute.) Classes start September 4th, for all those interested. Daytime classes start every 3 months.
I took the NET yesterday; after all the studying and reviewing I did, this turned out to be the easiest entrance exam imaginable. I scored a 92 on the Math and an 88 on the Reading Comprehension. Woohoo!
So the next hurdle is getting financial aid. I already had my FAFSA filled out and sent to the school (they were quite impressed,) so I go in at the end of July for my "money meeting." Can anyone tell me what to expect in the way of financial aid? I work full time, but I also have lots of bills that I pay every month.
Oh yea, my tuition is all-inclusive and it will be 18,500.
thanks!

Congratulations for getting into this program! I hope all goes well!
I also attended a private $20,000 LVN program. I did not qualify for any financial aid because I worked full time, had no dependents, and earned $40,000 per year at that time. I ended up financing my education with a Sallie Mae student loan.

I will also be starting in that weekend class at DNI Sept. 4 after I complete the net. Noticed you said that it was easy. I have been really stressing my self out with this study guide. Math has never been my thing so I just needed to make sure that I passed. I also will be continuing to work full time while attending school. Look forward to meeting ya.....

Hi I Start School Monday And Were I Will Be Going It Is 10,500 My Efc Was 0 And So Financial Aid Gave Me Like 4300 So I Still Had To Take Out A Loan But I Said Anything Is Better Than Nothing And I Also Work Fulltime And Get Childsupport
yay!! a classmate! the test was TOO easy. my proctor gave us a short review right before we did each section. And I'm telling ya, the math part consists of only percents, fractions, simple multiplication and division. that's it. study up on the "63 is what % of 123" type stuff. and review how to multiply and divide fractions. you'll be set. there are no word problems.
To the person who took out the Sallie Mae loans: does the FA office help you with these applications? or did you have to do this on your own? I am feeling lost in the world of FA. thanks for the info!
awesome! well that makes me feel a bit better. i just assumed that someone would give me a loan to cover the entire expense; how else do people go through this? lol.

The person in the financial aid office gave me the Sallie Mae form, I completed it, she faxed it, and the next day I receive a positive response of approval for a loan to cover the entire $20,000 tuition.
Does anyone know if you can get above and beyond the amount of school say to pay for...daycare or other lving expenses. I was told "no" but thought I'd ask other students....

This thread has been SUPER informative for me. I just had my FAFSA for o6-07 and 07-08 sent to DNI and I pray that I can get some kind of FA to cover the tuition, I'll be visiting them soon to enroll and I can't wait. I was going to go to Concorde college, but the DNI program sounds WAY better with the hours/days deal b/c I work full time and have a daughter to take care of. holy crap I'M EXCITED!@!@!!!! YAY! Hope I can pay for it
