Starting LPN program January 11, need some heads up

Published

Hi everyone! I am starting the pn program on January 11 and I'm a bit nervous. It was a struggle just to get this far, I am really fighting to be positive. Anyone who is starting soon and those of you that already have and can offer some positive feedback, please advise. I know that nothing is easy but I want to be positive and confident. What should I take with me on my first day of school? What uniforms should I buy first? I bought about three sets of white dickie and urban decay scrubs and a lab coat but have no idea as far as anything else goes...the booklet is not to specific and the health department at the school is very busy. Also, if you know of any place online I can buy scrubs for a student affordable price, I would be very greatfull!!! :)

:specs::D

Thank you!! I will give it my all! I seen some students getting ready for graduation on the 18th when I went to financial aide and I was so excited!! If there is any books you can recommend to help me now and while on the program I will be greatfull! Thanks lots and take care!

Congrats on gettin in the program. All I can say is STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!!!! I started my program in August and I have been going every since. I was so nervous when I started and didn't know what to expect. Now I'm done with my first semester and I am on the DEAN'S LIST!!! All A'S and 1 B! I know if I can do it you can. Just study hard,

This is a very demanding field and it's just something you have to get ready for. Just do your best and keep the faith!!!!

Good Luck!!!

Hi, I'm actually starting LPN January 11th also.

Were required to buy certain scrubs, sadly they don't give them to us. But I have found some good websites that sell scrubs for pretty decent prices.

lydiasuniforms.com is a good one along with allheart.com

I've bought the lydias value scrubs for 4.99 each and there great.

Good luck!!! =)

Yes I'm going to Miami Lakes Tech, I was hoping to buy the books for class somewhere else.. if anyone knows where please let me know... :)

need to save money where I can :twocents:

I also start Jan 11 and I am so nervous... We are not given anything, everything we need we have to buy... All that we were told to get right now in the 1st sem is a penlight, stethoscope, black pens, lvn pocket reference book, PDA if we can, bandage scissors, and a clipboard with calculator for clinicals..

Good luck to all

Best of luck and STUDY STUDY STUDY!! It is INTENSE. Reduce your work hours from the beginning!!!! You will not have a life and will need the support of family and classmates to help you through. BUT..it is so worth it. GOOD LUCK!

I have no idea what to take for the first day of class...

i have no idea what to take for the first day of class...

how 'bout a bookbag, milk money, pencil and paper? :D

Well!!! :), I don't know about the milk and honey but paper and pencil is a good idea. I thought I might need the books, which I havent purchased yet. Cool beans! Im excited and scared...

I also start my PN program on Jan. 11th and I don't have my books yet either but I do plan to get them before class starts. I have heard that some people carry a medical dictionary to class, I am looking for a pocket sized version.
