Starting LPN program January 11, need some heads up

Published

Hi everyone! I am starting the pn program on January 11 and I'm a bit nervous. It was a struggle just to get this far, I am really fighting to be positive. Anyone who is starting soon and those of you that already have and can offer some positive feedback, please advise. I know that nothing is easy but I want to be positive and confident. What should I take with me on my first day of school? What uniforms should I buy first? I bought about three sets of white dickie and urban decay scrubs and a lab coat but have no idea as far as anything else goes...the booklet is not to specific and the health department at the school is very busy. Also, if you know of any place online I can buy scrubs for a student affordable price, I would be very greatfull!!! :)

Get a medical dictionary right now, I promise you will be glad you did! Be ready for study, study and more study! As far as working, I work full time and am in the night/weekend program, I am in my 2nd semester. Yes some weeks I do need to work less, but it is doable. I have no life though, it's work, school, study, study, work, school. You get the idea. Coffee is your friend!

Well!!! :), I don't know about the milk and honey but paper and pencil is a good idea. I thought I might need the books, which I havent purchased yet. Cool beans! Im excited and scared...

You may need ur books, I started last weeks and took all my books and syllabus, as did the entire class, we only used one book the first day (foundations of nursing) but i think its better to be over prepared than underprepared.

As far as uniforms, you will likely just need one pair for the each clinical day per week, i.e. if you go to clinicals 3 times a weeks, buy 3 pairs. (unless your school requires uniforms during class lecture.)
