super excited but a bit nervous about the memorizing part! Any suggestions? Anyone else studying anatomy this semester too?

Yep, me too, and Microbiology today! Eek.

I just finished A&P 1 and this is what got me through- I answered ll the review questions after each chapter on paper- I find writing it out helps me remember better. I re-wrote my notes from class and added drawings in color ( I am not an artist, but just so I could visualize) I also went online- some books have an A & P website with practice tests and review. I did those for each chapter, and re-did each review test multiple times. I used 3 X 5 cards for definitions as well as body parts- like for tissues, I copied my lab book, cut out the pics of different tissues, or bones, and pasted them on the front and then the answer on the back. It was a great help in memorizing all the bones, muscles, and tissues. The biggest thing is to do something every night to keep it in your mind. You cannot do a cram session before the test with A & P! Good luck! I enjoyed it, I think because I put a lot of time into it and tried really hard to understand the material.

Thank you for those tips! I have a great professor and he has pretty direct notes which will help cut out any unneccessary information for the tests. I also bought an Anatomy coloring book and notecards to help with extra study.

How did you like your first class? I really enjoyed mine!! I decided to purchase the Anatomy Coloring Book as well, although a $24.99 version - Barron's I think it was with a blue cover and some plastic colored pages I have yet to figure out =) My goal for this weekend =)

My first class was awesome. I really like my professor and the way he presents his material. Bonus: NO comprehensive final! I got my Anatomy Coloring Book 2 days ago and I'm going to buy some coloring pencils for it today and bust it out! How was your class?

Note cards. Note cards were the key for me "getting" A&P. I know a lot of people fret and worry about A&P, but once I got a good handle on my study skills, the course was pretty easy for me.

I'll be starting anatomy and micro this semester, on monday to be exact! I know I will be in for a lot this semester. I bought like three packs of index cards the other day to start making flash cards ASAP.

Definitely read every chapter, and take notes while you read. Some of my chapters were so long that I had about 20 pages of notes! But I got an A in the class :) Do the online practice quizzes and tests, they are very good. Do not get behind, or you will end up reading and studying 3 chapters in 2 nights for a test (been there and done that...no fun!). You will be fine :)
