2011 Nursing program at NHTI
Hi all- I will be there in the fall!! I just started looking around this site- we should definitely try and keep something up for our 'class'! I, too, was bummed that we have to wait until June to get our schedule! I am just so excited I want to get going! Has everyone finished their pre-reqs? I have Micro left and am taking it this summer, but at Nashua CC because their schedule worked better for me than NHTI's. I have two kids- 11, and 14, and they are used to having mom around to do everything... it will be an interesting fall! The clinical times worry me- Neither is great, but I picked days as the lesser of two evils for my family. My husband is a Lieutenant Firefighter/paramedic and works 24 hour shifts. With the 7-3 shift on days when hubby is working the kids will have to get themselves to the bus without me , but if I get the 3-10, no one will be home when they get home, and they are both involved in sports, plus dinner, etc. That would be too much alone time!! I am sure all will adjust- Where is everyone going to get their shoes? I want to get the uniform danskos clogs- anybody know a good place to get them cheaper? Books- when we get the list in June I am going to shop around- I found a lot of my other books at Barnes and Noble and Amazon significantly cheaper than the bookstore. One girl told me we had to get them at the book store because of the 'bundles' but someone else said they are doing away with the bundles this year... anybody hear any differently? Is everyone going to the June 17th registration? Let's keep the discussion here going! Take care everyone! E

Nervous about A&P I
I love your idea about onenote and the dry erase! I wasted SO MUCH paper last year in AP1 copying the diagrams in my lab book multiple times!! I am going to do that for ap 2! I too, wrote and rewrote my notes and did review questions in the book. Flashcards of pics of bones, the brain and tissues were my saviour. I even got my 10 year old to help me and she still remembers some of the parts!! If you accept going in that it will be tough and you have to devote a good amount of time to it, you will be ok. I studied it a little every night- and I went to class a little earlier to 'preview' what we were talking about that day so I at least had a basic clue!! Good luck!

starting Anatomy tomorrow!
I just finished A&P 1 and this is what got me through- I answered ll the review questions after each chapter on paper- I find writing it out helps me remember better. I re-wrote my notes from class and added drawings in color ( I am not an artist, but just so I could visualize) I also went online- some books have an A & P website with practice tests and review. I did those for each chapter, and re-did each review test multiple times. I used 3 X 5 cards for definitions as well as body parts- like for tissues, I copied my lab book, cut out the pics of different tissues, or bones, and pasted them on the front and then the answer on the back. It was a great help in memorizing all the bones, muscles, and tissues. The biggest thing is to do something every night to keep it in your mind. You cannot do a cram session before the test with A & P! Good luck! I enjoyed it, I think because I put a lot of time into it and tried really hard to understand the material.
