Stanford Nurse Residency August 2023 Cohort 39

Published

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to submit this here to start a place where all of us who have applied to Stanford's nurse residency program can communicate. This is for cohort 39, which has a start date of August 21, 2023. I hope we all get in!

Thanks for the response! What was your top choice? Did you apply to cohort 38?

also, do you know of any other new grad programs in the Bay Area receiving applicants RN? I'm also feeling discouraged because information on these programs can be so hard to find and I've missed the deadline for many already

El Camino Health in Los Gatos/Mountain View is taking new grad applicants into their program until the 16th of June! Cohort starts mid September I think.

Newgradnurse39 - Kaiser Northern California has their new grad nurse residency open right now. I think it closes on the 7th of June. I don't have the direct link but if you Google it I'm sure the info page will pop up. You can choose a few of your preferred locations if you get to tge interview portion I believe. You do have to create a power point presentation for the interview, and they also prioritize having taken an EKG course.

Thanks! How competitive would I be? I haven't taken an EKG course but I did graduate with a 3.85 GPA, magna cum laude status, and have three letters of Rec under my belt all from clinical instructors.

Hi all!
I applied with putting oncology as my first choice. I haven't received anything but my application still says in review.

does anyone know how long they usually send our interview emails for? I know they say until June 16th but realistically does anyone know? Has anyone already received an email to interview for oncology?

Im feeling pretty discouraged right now, I feel that my application was completed in a rush and does not compare to the competitiveness of the other applicants.

let me know! Congrats to those who already received news!

Yes, I got one for oncology. But, past cohorts have said people were still receiving interviews outside the range that Stanford gave them. So don't lose hope until you've gotten a rejection.

They're a magnet destination level II trauma center so I would assume it's pretty competitive, but it's worth a shot!

Definitely don't lose hope yet. As for Kaiser, they should have their webinar posted so you can gain more info.

Kaiser seems more competitive this year than last. I know about 6 people from my ASN program that got in last year. I wonder if they added these requirements. I would say Kaiser is only taking med tele positions none in any other specialties.

To add to that, they said an up to date AHA-ACLS certificate is helpful too. It's a lot of money  for both ekg and ACLS courses.... I wonder how much it really helps!

has anyone heard back today yet? is anyone still hearing from medicine / surgical ? or has surgical even gone out yet

Hi! I just got an interview for the Surgical Unit (Third Choice), so they're rolling them out for sure!

Specializes in ICU.

Anyone have any insight on what research and trial nurse entails?

Congrats to all getting interviews! Best of luck.
