I remember a tutor told Haled and I, that when you're a nurse you know that every day you will touch a life or a life will touch yours.
But from the day, I began my clinicals at KATH I realised that in most cases when we nurses lay beds, we do it for our patients. But this time round, this bed we have laid as Ghanaian nurses, is for our own selfish interest and Pride.
For it is often said, the smallest truth is still bigger than a biggest lies.
It is so disheartening how some Staff Nurses treat student nurses at their various wards.
We have been subject to unwanted and unwarranted behavior because of our young age and inadequate experience.
Most of we nursing students start our clinicals with much expectation of getting the chance to see and learn new things, "HOW WRONG WE WERE".
We are belittled, embarrassed, humiliated in front of our own colleagues, medical doctors and even to patients to which we are nursing.
And not only did we face animosity from staff nurses, but from doctors and patients who felt we knew nothing and the question is WHY?
There are times this nurses forgets that, they have failed to show, the very best example of what was shown to them in kindness when they started as students nurses.
Nearly did they forget that when they share, impart and teach we generation of nurses from their wealth. In turn we can share, impart and teach from their knowledge
Fellow descendants of Nightingale, as the saying goes Good names are better than riches, Our profession is a very special one.
Lets all come together and pray for our profession to be a profession that loves supports, encourages, teaches, cares and nurtures its young, to see great generations of nurses flow forward into the future.
Thank you

Nursing school sucks. You just have to toughen up a bit and when you are a nurse show the students a little kindness.

Oh dear God, maybe allnurses should update the Terms and Conditions of posting to ban emojis from being used. Seriously, it's very distracting, and only children and immature adults use emojis in messages.
