Has anyone heard about the new St. Thomas University FNP program, Miami Gardens? Is it accredited? Anyone in the program?

I just got accepted to FNP program at STUfor march 2025. Any comment about the program? I would appreciated

Can someone tell me about how to find a preceptor? Does STU help us about it?

I would consider other options, and no - they do no help you find a preceptor.

STU does not help with preceptors. If you ask (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST IDENTIFYING INFO ABOUT OTHERS) she'll send you a list of preceptors that students have used in your area but that will be the extent of the help you receive. Be aware though that most all programs are the same format of "teach yourself and find your own preceptor" so be very wary of programs promising you the moon. The ones that really actually do help and/or pay preceptors are few and far between.

I have 3 semesters left! I'll be done at the beginning of Dec. Starting my third clinical soon. Still going strong with no issues. So far 10/10. Summer semesters can be stressful during clinical to complete the 125 hours in a shortened timeframe, but the upside is 6 discussions vs. 8. So technically a little less workload there!

well by this time that I write to you I hope you have graduated so I Congratulate you!

How do you feel about the program after finishing? did you ever have clinical site visits by the professor? I am currently starting the Summer and my first clinical site and am nervous for a visit.

I've just been accepted to FNP and I am seeing so many mixed reviews. Would anyone who is currently in the program provide some insight I just want to make sure I am making the right decision. I begin my classes on June 26, but I am considering pursuing my education elsewhere based on what I'm reading. Any tips on studying would also be extremely helpful. I look forward to hearing from you all.

AVOID THIS PROGRAM. Many students are being forced to change from FNP to another misc masters program just to graduate with something because of the APEA exit exam. Meaning all their clinical hours were wasted. DO NOT do this program.

I graduated the program and passed my boards last year. Two of my friends just graduated this year, one already passed boards the other testing in July. I would say the program requires some work but it's definitely doable.

Wait, what? How is that possible? I don't understand how a full MSN plus all those extra terms and serving your 500+ hours of clinical time can result in less than what you paid for. Did they give refunds? The AANP and ANCC don't say you have to pass an exit exam in order to take their board exams. That is so awful. So much time and money wasted!
