Has anyone heard about the new St. Thomas University FNP program, Miami Gardens? Is it accredited? Anyone in the program?
I just started the program in June. I will finish Summer 2 at the end of the month. So far so good. I honestly don't see how anyone can fail these classes. As long as you don't miss deadlines, the syllabus are equally weighted with papers and weekly discussions - which help you if you have lower test scores. As of right now, all work is due Thursday and Sunday for both my classes. Makes it easy to stay on top of things.
One of my professors is amazing. Immediate and complete responses. The other is also fast, but she's short, vague and confusing. Luckily there's really no reason to reach out to them. The syllabus and announcements have everything you need to know (if you actually read it. I skipped over it because it's just so long, but everything is in there).
I obviously haven't gotten to the point where I'm looking for a preceptor or getting a site approved. From what I've read, it's not easy. But again, I read that these classes were unorganized and everything would be a disaster and I don't see that, so fingers crossed! I am looking for more detailed information about this if anyone has any insight/tips.
Also, financial aid representative has been very helpful and fast in her responses and my advisor reaches out frequently to follow up on my experience.
Thank you for posting this. I wanted to apply for this school then this thread made me not want to ?. Maybe I will give it a shot. If you have anymore pointers for this school, please let me know!! Thank you!!

Admission was straight forward. Maybe 2-3 weeks and I was ready for the next start date. Once accepted it took about a week to get the welcome email with log in to my online portal/canva/email, but I called IT as soon as I saw my acceptance and they gave me access.
Make sure you connect your STU email to your phone. Their system doesn't allow forwarding and you can't change your primary contact email to another.
Everyone I've reached out to gets back to me fast via email. I haven't even been placed on hold when I've called, either.
1 "half" semester down, 8 to go!

Thank you so much for posting. I was also accepted to the school and was beginning to be frightened with what I am reading here. Did you go on to graduate? So far I have been impressed with the initial contacts with everyone as well as the LMS. It's the same one as my prior school so I am used to it. I would appreciate hearing from anyone else who has finished the PMC FNP or even the MSN FNP here recently as to how they fared. Thank you again for posting a positive review. It is appreciated!

I have 3 semesters left! I'll be done at the beginning of Dec. Starting my third clinical soon. Still going strong with no issues. So far 10/10. Summer semesters can be stressful during clinical to complete the 125 hours in a shortened timeframe, but the upside is 6 discussions vs. 8. So technically a little less workload there!

This is super encouraging to read. So far I can see the courses on Canvas and they look pretty straightforward and I appreciate that there are actual "lectures" vs just reading. How have you found the proctored exams? Are they awful like Proctorio or ProctorU? I have used Respondus prior and I believe that is what they will use here. Have you found that the provided materials on Canvas enable you to pass the exams? So far everything has been almost too good so I am very scared reading these reviews, LOL! Did you have a lot of trouble finding preceptors? That's really my only huge worry.

I was very nervous about finding a preceptor. I waited until the absolute last second LOL even though they ask you about it every semester leading up to it. I ended up paying for my first one through NPhub, but that preceptor helped me find my subsequent placements. The material is straightforward. Lockdown is used for exams. It's not a live proctor, just recording, so it's not like proctorio where you have to "schedule" a time. I hated that!

Thank you so much! I was just reading that they do APEA at the end of the program which no one had mentioned so now I have something else to freak out about ha ha!

I found out that the APEA is only for the MSN track. It doesn't apply to the PMC FNP track. Just in case anyone else was wondering.

Hey there! Im thinking about starting the program this fall. Have you stated? If so, what is it like? Are the courses difficult? How are they laid out in the 7 week span? I appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance!
