St. Thomas University, Miami FNP Program

Updated:   Published

Has anyone heard about the new St. Thomas University FNP program, Miami Gardens? Is it accredited? Anyone in the program?

Specializes in ICU, PCU, Neuro/Stroke.

@GVD are you almost done with the program? You in the online or on campus format? I am right at the end where everything has slightly changed for the final course. I know this final course is already a killer with an exit exam in the way.

Specializes in Medsurge.

I’m in the online program. I started in January 2020. I had to take a semester off because I couldn’t find a site to do my clinical. Good luck to you.

@GVDthanks. I had to get an incomplete on the clinical course until I find a preceptor who is willing to take me. It’s all crazy with covid and losing clinical sites.

Hello everyone!

I recently completed all the classes in the program and have been delighted that the program is changing little by little for the better. There were definitely some hiccups along the way, with communication problems here and there but all in all I finished with a 3.83 GPA and am very excited to graduate in May. Would I choose the same program if I had the chance? Yes! In the grand scheme of things every program will have its pros and cons, it’s old and downs and in general the program was fair. Congrats to everyone beginning or at the tail end of completing all their program requirements!

Hello!

Congratulations on your completing the program! I actually just started, and I'm only taking one class at a time. If possible, could you please send me an email? Just wanted to know more about how the program went, and tips for success. If you will. [email protected] and if not, that's OK too. Anyways, congratulations!

Hello all. Just accepted into the PMHNP program at St. Thomas starting 5/15/21. I am also in the FB group. Any tips, guidance, recommendations for myself? I am good at self guided study but I am always open to info from those who have experienced the program. Thank you in advance.

Hi guys! Following this thread.

So I graduated with my BSN from STU.I am now working as a RN and waiting for my year to go by, to apply to the PMHNP program. My experience their as a BSN student was challenging! They did not make it any easy for us to get through, but I survived , never repeated a class, and pass NCLEX on my first try. I’m not sure how the PMHNP program is but I would love feedback. I’m looking into the online option. I know the directos for BSN and MSN program is different. Also do I need experience in psych to enter the program? I’m currently in a med surg/tely at my hospital and have gotten my handful of psych patients.

Specializes in BA Psych, BSN, MBA.

V.Jones BSN RN: Just curious what your feedback is on the program? I am on the fence about FNP vs PMHNP (or FNP and post masters cert in PMHNP). Not gonna lie the feedback about STU is fairly discouraging. I'm trying to find an online program that is accelerated. I would like to be done in less than 18-24 months (ish).

Any advise is greatly welcome (from anyone). Email: [email protected]

Thank you to any/everyone that is willing to sent any recommendations!
