St. Paul's School of Nursing - Spring 2015

Published

Hey everyone, I'm new to the site.

I've recently taken the HESI at SPSON, I got an overall 91%. I'm planning to go to the evening classes if I get accepted. The next step is the interview with the President of the school? Anyone else applying to SPSON?

Hi eva. Are you in the daytime or evening cohort? And how long is this program for? Is it really 18 months rather than 2? Are nursing classes available in the summer ? Sorry for so many questions

Hi Chris, I'm an evening student. Yes the program is now 18 months vs. 2 years. Summer classes are pretty much mandatory because it's a regular schedule like in spring or fall that's why the program is shorter now.

Hey EvaMilly87 I wanted to know how is the program so far cause I went to a open house in April and they said that it is 18 months do you like the program so far any information would help because right now i am deciding if I should apply for the Fall 2015.

So far, I like the program. However, this is only my first semester. Next semester I start clinicals and it will be way tougher than the 1st semester. Eventhough, the first semester is not exactly a piece of cake. My advice is to keep your options open and apply to as many programs as you can. That way you have the ability to choose whatever you feel will fit you best.

Awesome! That's great to hear. I have a bachelor's already so hopefully I can finish a few months sooner. Do the evening courses really start at 4:30? I plan on getting a job at a hospital so that I can have earlier hours to fit the evening schedule.

Well technically you can't really finish sooner you just have a lighter load every semester. And yes, right now I start at 4:30 everyday except for Friday, which I have off. You may not have classes at 4:30 but since you're an evening student you have to be prepared to have class anytime between 4:30 - 11 while you're in the program.

I myself am applying to the SPSON of queens but I don't know the process I feel like i'm left in the air when I have questions and I had spoken to my advisor about me wanting to start in August but she said "she don't want to do that to me" and my concern is that is what I want I was wondering what additional steps need to be done when applying. and now I was told that the school in staten island is closing i'm wondering if this affect the one in queens

Hello:

I am writing to the threads that I have been reading about St. Paul's School of Nursing. First off, they made my dream a reality by becoming a Registered Nurse. I had a very good experience there and was very happy with my decision to attend SPSON. Yes it is expensive, but it was worth it to me. I worked my butt off at night, did not quit my job, and did well while I was there. I studied very diligently and my hard work paid off. There are problems there, but where aren't there problems. The tuition included me to take advantage of post graduation courses from Kaplan and some other place that helped us study for the NCLEX. I took advantage of everything the school offered. I passed the NCLEX the first time that I took it, incidentally, right around the corner from the school. Having to work full-time (I could not quit my job like other people), all of my class schedules were carefully planned which made it easier for me to incorporate my busy work schedule and time to buckle down and study. If you don't put in the time to read and study why go to nursing school? I was very satisfied with my education there and I can tell you where I work, they hired at least 20 RN's with an Associate Degree who were from SPSON. Good Luck to all who apply and make the very best of your education because Nursing IS the BEST job in the world.

Hello

I would like to know how to study for the entrance exam.

Where did you end up working? Finding a job after graduating is my main concern

The book they suggest to get and going to the review classes will help you tremendously.

hey all im entering my third semester of SPSON.

so basically you interview with the president or anyone else in the admissions department. (dont worry about the interview... they'll probably ask how you became interested in the field, and if youre willing to give up your saturdays and sundays for the school; they wont actually make you come into school on those days but he wants to know if youre willing to give you're all for the school) then you interview with financial aide and you get packaged for the first semester, then you get scheduled for orientation then start classes!!

:) good luck to all
