I'm curious if anybody got their acceptance letter yet?
I just recently took my entrance test - it was easy. They changed the test style. After the first test comes the HESI which I know would be more challenging. The name of the entrance test is not DET anymore. It stinks considering on the application packet it says that the test would be DET and even recommended to buy the book guide - I bought it unfortunately. Anyway, anybody applied to other nursing school aside from st.paul's?
Arg anyone waiting for their acceptance letter? What's your GPA? Are you in the morning or evening program?
I am scheduled to take the HESI exam on October 7th. I am like so nervous about this exam. Question, is the math section multiple choice? and, when will I find out the results of the exam?
I am applying for admission into the January 2011 class in Staten Island. Anyone else taking the same exam?
hey, i just took the exam a couple weeks ago and it is pretty straightforward if you use the study guide. the math section is multiple choice, the whole exam is multiple choice. they call you with the results the same day. at least they did to me. i also applied to staten island for jan 2011. good luck and don't be nervous :-)

Thank you so much for replying back. I am just a lil nervous. Did you do well? If you don't mind me asking. When do we find out if we got accepted into the program? Also, is one timed in every section?
I just have so many questions. lolz :)

yea i know the feeling, i was also very nervous before the exam. i did do well on the exam though. i studied for about two weeks. i basically just kept going over the practice book. everything is computerized and you have 50 minutes for each of the four sections. for the math, you'll get a very basic calculator on the computer screen and some scrap paper. i'm not absolutely sure when they start sending out acceptance letters, but when i last spoke to someone at st. paul's, they said they would start letting people know in october, but i don't know exactly when in october. hope this helps!

Yeah, you have been helpful. Also, did you find out your results that same day or the day after?
In the vocabulary part, was the vocabulary from the book or was there more? In the math section, where there many questions on measurement conversion, roman numerals, fractions (adding/subracting/multiplying/division), ratios and proportions? I have been studying these areas like crzy for the past two weeks.
I am like so excited. I want to be in this nursing program. Are they still doing the interviews for admission?
I am sorry I ask so many questions lol
lol, its fine, trust me, i def know the feeling. i'm also excited and looking forward to hearing back. i don't think they do interviews anymore, although i'm not sure. i read somewhere on one of these forums that they only go by your test scores, your former gpa, and your essay, but don't quote me on that because i'm not 100% positive. the only sort of interview i went on was the first day when i went to ask about the program and took the 12 minute pretest.
as for the test itself, the vocab section included more words than the book prepares you for, but not that many. for a few questions, i only knew the answer to because i already have a BA in psychology, but those were only for like four or five questions. for math, i would recommend to keep studying exactly what you are studying because there are a lot of all of those on the exam. most, if not all, of the math test consisted of those four things.
and i found out my results the same day. i took the test in the morning, and by the afternoon they called me.
you'll do fine tho, again, don't get too nervous because that'll just make it worse on exam day. just go in there thinking that you know everything and you'll be good :-)

Thanks for replying to me. Just another question, Do you remember how many questions roughly were on every section, esp. the math part?
