Published

Hey, has anyone else received an acceptance letter for the spring 2010 semester? :D

@Sissy314 I am also attending the Queens campus/Day and I went to the school yesterday for financial aid and I was able to pick up a tentative schedule. MON= Nur-101 ( 9am-12:30), A&P (1:30-4:30) Tues= Clinical/Skills Lab, Nur-102 (9am-2pm) Wed= Nur 103 (8:30-9:30), Nur 100 (9:30-1:00), Psy-103 (1:30-4:30) Thurs= Clinical/ Skills Lab Nur- 102 (9am-2pm), Friday= NOTHING, Saturday Lab( they did not put the time).

The scrubs for queens is a Royal blue Top and White pants.

@Nurturing Soul--thx for the info! How was the financial aid visit? Were they helpful and did you need an appointment?

Yea I had to make an appointment. She was really helpful and was able to answer all of my questions.

cool i made an appointment with (moderator edit of name)! thanks..hey u think we'll need like a pda or itouch? i have an itouch and downloaded a bunch of nursing apps but not sure if that's enough...

I'm not sure, I have an Ipod touch as well but I haven't downloaded any apps yet but I guess we'll find out at orientation.

Micromedex(Drug Book) is the only one I really found useful and a converter app since everything is in the metric system....other than that good luck.

For anyone taking micro which I believe will be in you're 3rd semester, you should know that they do not offer it in the school. Due to a lack of a proper lab room, you have to take it else were. If you decide to due it during the semester I think they send you to QCC, but dont quote me on that....I do know that they don't offer it on campus at Queens.

@bluefly do you know if it is possible to take mirco at QCC in the summer and then have the credits transferred in?

Yes they will accept any credits from a CUNY, but I am a little fuzzy with the transfer policy. I planned on taking some Pre Reqs over the summer to save time and money. However I am not sure if the actuall grade will transfer and bear weight on you're GPA. I mean pre reqs are just fluffer courses and should be considered and easy way to bolster your overall GPA.

For you guys in 1st semester Nur 100 is 3 credits, so is Psych103. They have the same weight but Nur 101 is SOOOOOO much harder....anyway my point is basically you have to figure out if you want to paying several hundred dollars less for a class at a CUNY and just having it come in as a T(Transfer Credit). Or take it at SPSON and actually have it factor into you're GPA.

Yea I see your point thanks for the advice. How hard would you say the first semester is? Do you think it would be difficult to balance the first semester load with working a part time job (about 20hrs a week)?

Anything is possible, I found the beginning of the semester to be most difficult. It was a big adjustment process for me, changing the way you read the questions on the quiz and how much time I needed to put into studying. I think its possible to work part time and excel in the program.

Don't be discouraged I pretty much failed the first quizes for 100 and 101. The margin for error on those quizzes are pretty slim 25 questions so if you get more than 5 wrong its an epic FAIL!

Just got my ID today so nervous and excited!!!!!!! So does anyone know if you take out a stafford loan can you put any of the money towards books? Also do you need a stethoscope right away?
