Anyone else out there accepted to this program?? Let me know, classes are starting on August 26, 2013. Looking for others that are moving to St. Louis for this program.

I am in aswell....getting very intimidated about all of the readings/work already popping up on blackboard...Congrats everyone and welcome to the city!!...i have lived in STL most of my life..live in the suburbs now and not looking forward to the long commute in the mornings....traffic is terrible!! Hopefully we can all meet up at the Orientation on the 22nd!

Hi.

Thinking about applying to this program. Does anyone know the cost? Is it just a fall start date or are there summer start dates, as well?

Thanks.

I'm in the program now. I graduate next year. Let me know if you have any questions. I am really happy with the program!

I think its fall and spring admission and about 1000 a credit

How is the program going for you all? Do you think its possible to complete if you have children? Are graduates finding employment easily?uj

I still like the program. I mean there are some flaws but Im overall satisfied. Whenever you have questions I feel the prof. are easily reachable (they give out their home number too) and easy to talk to. My advisor does not reach out to me. At the beginning she gave me my whole course plan so I just register every semester based off of that. If I needed her I could call but it really is student lead. Being a distance student is challenging. You must be very organized and self motivated and make the time to call your prof. Some students do find it difficult but I have friends from other schools who told me horror stories. I havent had any 'horror' stories here but there have been some frustration. I had my second baby in the middle of health assessment semester(which requires 75 clinical hours). So right now I have an almost 3 year and a 10 month old It is doable with children but overwhelming. I work 2 days a week, do an 8 hr day at clinilcal and then have 2 days off during the week to do homework. My kids are at daycare FT. My husband is in the military so he is gone for months at a time, so I try and leave nights and weekends to my kids. I'm able to complete this program in 2 years so it will all be worth it in the end!

Do you know if graduates are finding employment? I was thinking about applying for the program if I qualify but am not sure if its worth it. I know its very expensive and I would like the options of continuing my education if I wanted. Is that possible with this degree since its a generalist masters in nursing?

The program is Adult Gero NP. After graduation I would be working as a nurse practitioner. I know where I live (ME, MA, NH area-all drivable within45 min) all NP graduates even from other schools are getting jobs. My only NP friend who cannot find a job specialized in pediatrics.

Oh I thought this was a forum about SLU's AGMSN program for people with a Bachelors in a non-nursing field sorry

Hi MissDS, did you decide to apply to Saint Louis AGMSN program for Fall 2014? I was accepted in the program also and wanted to connect with others.
