St. Louis University AGMSN Fall 2013
The program is Adult Gero NP. After graduation I would be working as a nurse practitioner. I know where I live (ME, MA, NH area-all drivable within45 min) all NP graduates even from other schools are getting jobs. My only NP friend who cannot find a job specialized in pediatrics.

I still like the program. I mean there are some flaws but Im overall satisfied. Whenever you have questions I feel the prof. are easily reachable (they give out their home number too) and easy to talk to. My advisor does not reach out to me. At the beginning she gave me my whole course plan so I just register every semester based off of that. If I needed her I could call but it really is student lead. Being a distance student is challenging. You must be very organized and self motivated and make the time to call your prof. Some students do find it difficult but I have friends from other schools who told me horror stories. I havent had any 'horror' stories here but there have been some frustration. I had my second baby in the middle of health assessment semester(which requires 75 clinical hours). So right now I have an almost 3 year and a 10 month old It is doable with children but overwhelming. I work 2 days a week, do an 8 hr day at clinilcal and then have 2 days off during the week to do homework. My kids are at daycare FT. My husband is in the military so he is gone for months at a time, so I try and leave nights and weekends to my kids. I'm able to complete this program in 2 years so it will all be worth it in the end!

SO what will you do after graduation?? Work as a nurse manager?

Message me your questions and I will do my best to answer them. My schedule now is hectic as its the end of the semester and finals are coming up. I'm usually available late at night once my kids are in bed or early in the morning so messaging works best for me. I love the program so far though. I think the clinicals make it feel more real. The core courses are tough and time consuming but all make sense once you get to clinical.

I am in the SLU AGNP program. I am scheduled to graduate Dec 2014. I am in my first round of clinicals now and I love it. I live in ME so all my courses have been on live except the clinical component. There's really no need to leave NY. I maintain A's and high B's. The professors are easy to talk to and respond quickly to emails. I am really happy I chose this school. I had a friend graduate from USA and had an awful last semester. More than 40% failed the last course.

Adult Nurse Practitioner in St.Loius University, anyone?
I think I heard within 30 days of the application deadline. I received a congratulatory email first and then got the same letter via snail mail a week later. 1-2 courses per semester is the normal course load to finish in 3 years. My advisor was very helpful organizing my plan of study. We had to switch some classes around so that i met before clinicals. Nursing research now is just like my BSN. Lots of papers and peer reviewed articles.

Thanks, Im still pretty new to this site...not sure how to PM you? I clicked on your name and didnt see messaging there either. I'm pregnant with my second so I really wanted to get 3 classes out of the way as soon as possible. They said they only accept 25 students in the FNP program and it was tough competition. I spoke with the Dean and she is the one who suggested ANP, which still had openings. Patho has test. They are proctored. You need a webcam for your computer so they watch you. No books or notes for the exams. there are 6 exams and the final is not cumulative, thank goodness!

Im in the ANP program. Im taking nursing research, patho and health promotion. I work full time (3, 12 hour shifts) and have an 18 month old. My son is in daycare 4 days a week so that I am able to do homework on my days off. Patho is a lot of work. There is a lot of studying. I think I study about 90min-2 hours a night just to keep up with the reading. The other 2 classes aren't hard. Just busy work...papers, discussion questions, projects. The courses are easy to navigate and instructors respond immediately. I have a 3.89 GPA with my BSN and could not get unto the FNP program. So I got into ANP and will later add on a family certificate if I'm still interested. The curriculum is the same, only ANP doesn't have pediatrics.
