St Joseph's College of Maine FNP program students

Nursing Students NP Students

Published

I wanted to start this thread for all of the new (and current) students at Saint Joseph's College of Maine FNP program.

Any info, news, updates or questions/concerns could be asked here for all the new and current students.

Any advice that the current students can give us new students would be greatly appreciated :)

For example...

1. How many books are required for NU 501?

2. Has setting up clinicals been difficult?

3. Have the current students had any trouble communicating with your advisors? Do they get back to you promptly?

4. Overall, how has the experience been? Are you glad you are in this program?

Thanks so much!

Does anyone know what software is required for the FNP program? It used to be in the Handbook when I began but the Handbook has changed. I cannot seem to find it now that I need it for Adv Pharm. Thank you.

They are doing away with their FNP program. It will not be accepting anymore applicants.

Probably for the best . . .

I work part time and have a challenging time with clinical and studying and getting work done.

They are opening the FNP program back up. So, if you haven't applied or started the program anywhere else, try now. I am finishing up my last semester of clinical and just make sure you clinical sites which meet the criteria.

How is the program?? I am starting the program in Feb 2017. Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated.

Following. I begin the Post Masters FNP Certificate program on Feb 1st.

I am in my last year of the FNP program (just finishing the first semester of clinicals). I will say that the program is fine and meets all the requirements based on the Consensus Model-you'll hear more about that in NP 600 :). My only complaint about the program is that there are actually more requirements for this program then other programs. My coworker attends Walden and she has four clinical semesters, instead of three, so she doesn't need to cram as many hours in to 12 weeks (have to do 200 clinical hours per semester at SJCME). They do not have a capstone at the end like we have. In the end, even though my coworker and I started at the same time, she will graduate three months ahead of me (and I double up one semester)

Thanks for the info! Congrats on your last year!!

Is there anyone applying now to the fnp online program for may 2017 start date? I hope there is someone out there...

also I read that out of 600 clinical hours : 300 must be with an NP and the other 300 MSN.. that doesn't make any sense to me. why MSN only? Is that by mistake? because what am I going to learn from an MSN who is not in the NP role? and what about MD and PAs? Can someone who has done clinicals please give me some insight. Thank you
