St Joseph's College of Maine FNP program students

Nursing Students NP Students

Published

I wanted to start this thread for all of the new (and current) students at Saint Joseph's College of Maine FNP program.

Any info, news, updates or questions/concerns could be asked here for all the new and current students.

Any advice that the current students can give us new students would be greatly appreciated :)

For example...

1. How many books are required for NU 501?

2. Has setting up clinicals been difficult?

3. Have the current students had any trouble communicating with your advisors? Do they get back to you promptly?

4. Overall, how has the experience been? Are you glad you are in this program?

Thanks so much!

Hey pjacob. You mentioned a video? Was that an assignment within NP601? Tell us more about it. I'm hoping to get started at the end of the month. Thanks for whatever info you can share - [email protected].

Greetings RN in Maine. You stated you completed the NP601 course? Was it not through SJCM? Did you not have to do the phy assessment videos? I guess I'm a little nervous about the clinical class too. I work 40-50 hours teaching at an ADN ground school. What will be required in regards to written assignments. Please help? I can be reached at [email protected]. Whatever help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Anyone having trouble with getting in touch with advisors, clinical coordinator, etc? I've been trying to email anyone regarding wrapping up clinical requirements to get started and all I get is an auto-reply. Anyone else having this problem currently?

Did you get the info on the new clinical coordinator? Check that out.

Just finish my first class. Within the new class enrollment we are able to choose our instructor. Any recommendations? [email protected]

Signing up for Nsg Leadership.

Morglan - I am hoping to take NP 601 on campus nest summer. Glad you had a good experience. Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome. Not sure that you can choose your instructor. As far as NP 601, I'd definitely recommend it. Just stay on track with your classes now so that you can take it in the summer. You have to have Pharm done and grade posted before you can enroll. It was well worth using up two weeks of vacation to get it done in 2 weeks rather than the longer online class. Good luck!

The new way we enroll - just started end of July, you get to pick your instructor. For Nsg leadership, there are 3 listed, 1 is full, so now I pick 1 of the 2 left. Most of the classes have more than 1 instructor to pick from.

Morglan - my goal is to take NP 601 in Maine! I will gladly give up 2 weeks of vacation to do it! What was the dress code? Business or scrubs?

Hi vkirby63! It was pretty casual for us, first day I wore a polo and khaki pants (i'm a guy) but by the middle of the first week we were wearing khaki shorts and pretty much whatever, as long as no one went overboard...that was my experience, not sure if it would change regarding dress code for the upcoming ones. But all in all, very laid back with an emphasis on working with everyone - lots of hands on and practice, practice, practice. Very good experience!

Hi all,

I was just accepted into St. Josephs online program for family NP. My advisor suggested to sign up for Leadership first which will start next month. Does this sound right? And, am I only able to start with one class? Will it take a full 15 weeks?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks :)

I applied for Nurse Pract. Program, I was told they decide in Jan., have anyone else applied?

I have also applied! I applied in December but missed the January deadline so I will have to wait until March to start in April. Hate that we do not know until a few weeks before class. If I don't make it in then that leaves no time to start another program. Decisions..decisions. I'm leaning more toward here than South University or Chamberlain. Any advice or thoughts?

Go to South University. They are much more organized.
