St Joseph's College of Maine FNP program students

Nursing Students NP Students

Published

I wanted to start this thread for all of the new (and current) students at Saint Joseph's College of Maine FNP program.

Any info, news, updates or questions/concerns could be asked here for all the new and current students.

Any advice that the current students can give us new students would be greatly appreciated :)

For example...

1. How many books are required for NU 501?

2. Has setting up clinicals been difficult?

3. Have the current students had any trouble communicating with your advisors? Do they get back to you promptly?

4. Overall, how has the experience been? Are you glad you are in this program?

Thanks so much!

I would choose Chamberlain over South University. Chamberlain starts at different intervals doing the year…..

Hello,

I just accepted to St. Joseph college online to start at the end of this month. I have not formally accepted through my counselor since I am still considering all my other options. Is there anyone who will be starting this year also?

@tellamae have you heard back from SJC yet?

I just got in to the April 28th start date at SJC.

How are the Jan start doing so far? What do you guys think of the program in this new cohort model, and are enough classes offered to go quickly through it?

Thanks and we should really freshen up this thread

I applied and was informed they could no longer take students from my state per my board of nursing. I spoke with my board of nursing and they said that was not the case with them. A little shady but I don't feel they were dishonest and Elizabeth was more than helpful applying to the program and after. I have since decided to attend Chamberlain College of Nursing.

What state is that?

Seems a little weird but who knows right. I looked at Chamberlain but it wasn't accepted at the state I plan to live in upon graduation. I hope to find some people on here to see how they like it.

West Virginia is my state. Exactly the point of who is right or wrong. I just counted it as a sign that was not the right program for me! Good luck!

Hey guys, I am starting 601 this month. I have a preceptor for it, but having some trouble.....any one in the new england area have any contacts for clinical sites. I live in MA, but willing to travel to RI,CT, Maine, or NH. any info or tips would be great! you can email me [email protected]

I just finished my RN-BSN and am narrowing down my MSN FNP schools to apply to. SJCM is/was one of them. Ive really enjoyed reading everyone's insightful comments about how the school runs/ran the program. I just wanted to add this. After reaching out to the school via email with questions the response was we don't currently have a program director for the FNP program (ours resigned), and will not be accepting new students until we find a new director". And, of all the comments made about the logistics of the program, almost all changed as of October 2014 (per the email I rec'd). So it sounds like a entirely new format? Can anyone provide insight on my email from the college?

Does anyone know what's going on with the SJCME FNP program? I was finally ready to apply but it says that they are not taking applications for the FNP program at this time. Is the program going to be discontinued? I really hope they keep the program and accept applications soon!

I personally had not heard they were not taking any applications. However, if I were you, I would continue to pursue other options - time, IS money they say. Best wishes.

From my limited perspective and in my opinion, there have been a great deal of unpleasant issues within the program. The issues may have been partly caused by faculty changes or from the by-product of too many changes implemented at once. If I were you, I would continue to pursue other options. I would avoid delaying the pursuit of my dreams because of one program.
