I have done a few searches, but haven't found many responses (or at least newer) re: St. Joseph's nurse practitioner program. I'm considering it because it seems flexible, reasonable, and like a good opportunity from what I can tell. Please share your experiences!! Is $600/credit reasonable for an online program? I feel it's almost worth it so that I can start sooner rather than later!

I just got in to the April 28th start date at SJC.

How are the Jan start doing so far? What do you guys think of the program in this new cohort model, and are enough classes offered to go quickly through it?

I'm glad you're just now getting into the program instead of being accepted and having to go through all the program changes. all I can say is that I regret picking this program over Graceland Univeristy. Whatever you do, YOU need to be on top of everything. DO NOT rely on academic advisors. I've had 3 advisors so far since starting the program in 2012. good luck. I will write a more formal review once I graduate.

I finished the FNP program in March 2015

It was tough but I have no regrets and am taking the certification exam in August☀️

Look elsewhere. There is precious little instruction involved in this program, and even less feedback on your work. I have a 4.0 GPA after all my coursework, and if I got a full page of TOTAL instructor feedback on all my assignments so fare, I'd be shocked. I have even deliberately omitted required elements of assignments (since I already had a guaranteed A) ...and still got a 100% on the assignment. You will come away from this program with a credential that allows you to take your boards, but you will be teaching yourself, you will get very little teaching, and you are completely on your own when it comes to getting a clinical placement. They tell you the process can take several months. Trust me, it can take up to a year or more. Start looking for a site as soon as you start the program.

Bottom line: You get what you pay for. The inexpensive tuition is a perfect example of this. Best of luck in your search.

They discontinued the FNP program for new students so obviously they're having problems. I've completed the program and passed boards. Hang in there! Not sure how much longer you have but it will be over soon!

I graduated Nov 30, 2015, and passed my AANP Boards the first try BUT... the FNP program at St Joseph's was extremely unorganized with little leadership. I had 3 advisors during my matriculated time there. They offered a self paced format when I applied but changed to a 12 week semester which delayed my graduation by several months. We went through several program directors as well. There was no director in place when I graduated and have been told that this is the hold up for program continuation. Although the best option financially, and I am certified now, the program was , unfortunately, very poorly organized. I applied for a HRSA Nursing Scholarship when accepted and did not receive it because the school could not figure out how to complete the paperwork!

KDoton, reading this reminded me exactly of what I would say. SO many changes, so incredibly disorganized. I too had three advisors, then changed from a personal email account to their outlook account and changed from angel learning to bright space, all at the same time. They didn't have a director when I graduated so I'm sure this is why they had to discontinue their FNP program. I do have to say, the advisors were nice and the professors were too, although not many provided feedback in a timely manner, if at all. I'm just so glad it's over and ready to start my new career as an FNP :) Best of luck to everyone still in the program.

Hi, I am applying to start SJC's online FNP program this fall. Is anyone currently in the program that can tell me how the courses are with workloads? Or if anyone has just graduated, do you feel ready for the boards? Currently SJC says they don't have any information on passing rates for the boards just yet. Would really like to get some information before I enroll into the program!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
