anyone know anything about St francis in memphis??

I notice they have ads for "nurse techs" and it's geared towards RN students within one yr of graduating. ANY idea what they pay??

I know this doesn't answer your question, but I wanted to ask you since you are the most recent person on here. How do you post a new thread?

Thanks

Never mind...the button is now there. Weird.

I sent you a private message. Hope it helps :)

I'm not sure what St. Francis pays, and I couldn't even begin to speculate.

Baptist reportedly pays $18/hr (according to a friend of a classmate who is one)

The Med reportedly pays $15/hr (according to a friend of a friend who is one)

Methodist is pay grade 08 compared to LPN pay grade 10. Methodists pay their LPN's around $12/hr, so you can imagine their nurse techs make about $9 (these are the same pre-RN nurse techs as the other hospitals).

With that in mind, St. Francis could pay anywhere inbetween. More likely than not, however, they're going to pay on the higher end.

You could always apply and see what they say, right? I will say this -- in my clinical rotations at St. Francis, I did see a flyer mentioning some cool things for their nurse techs. They will pay for a 2-day NCLEX review course, and will pay you your base pay for those 2 days, plus base pay for 3 more days before you take the NCLEX exam. There were some other things, but I can't remember.

Can you send me the same PM? I'm curious myself. Graduating LPN school in a few weeks and will be considering taking a nurse tech position once I'm in RN school, since (sadly) many hospitals pay their nurse techs more than their LPN's, with the exception of Methodist.

I am currently an intern with both Baptist Memphis and The MED. Baptist pays $10.57 for nurse techs and $15.61 for the nurse intern I position (must have completed Adult Health I and within 1 year of graduation to be considered an intern I). The shift differential is 6% evenings, 9% nights, and 10% weekends. The MED pays $15. Methodist pays $12.50 for nurse externs (this pay increases when you are in you last semester of school). One of my classmates works for Saint Francis and according to her she makes $16.54 per hour.

Kaylas Mom..thanks for the info! I have apps into Baptist and Saint Francis for intern positions and I have friends working at Baptist. I hate waiting and waiting...I need a job YESTERDAY lol

I am curious if you all know what they pay new grad RNs? In Jackson it's I think around $19/hr.

Hopefully I hear something this week...I'm sooooo ready to start! lol

Which do you like better - Baptist or the med?

Mommy

I absolutely love working at The MED. I don't like Baptist very much. I will probably be leaving Baptist very soon. I have an interview with Saint Francis on Friday. I was told by the nurse recruiter at Baptist that the starting salary for nurse grads is $19.50 hour + $2.00 hour bedside pay. It's an extra $4 for nights and $4.50 for weekends. The MED starting pay is $20.55 per hour and an extra $4 hour for nights and $7 hour for weekends. I was also told that they are offering a $3000 sign-on bonus for new grads. If you have already submitted an application to Saint Francis you should call and talk directly to the recruiter. She is very nice and will probably schedule you an interview. This is what I did.

Thank You all for this information. I am not a nurse tech yet, but hopefully will be one soon. I am hoping to work at St. Francis. I don't know if this was already mentioned, but Methodist starts their new grad. RN's at 19 something an hour. One of my friends graduated from U of M in December, and started at Methodist Germantown.

Any updates about St. Francis? What do they allow their "nurse techs" to do? They have a position posted that I am interested in. Any info would be great!

brett - they have raised the pay to be quite competitive with Baptist. What do they "allow" you to do? Well it's more what the BON allows you to do lol. Nothing invasive..although you can watch procedures and assist the nurse. Lots of admission histories, discharge, wound care, gopher, put away supplies, check on beeping pumps and let the nurse know the deal, general all around helper outer. Might help the nurse turn patients, or help feed a pt who can't feed themself. Take vitals.

Overall friendly nurses who are willing to share knowledge. Just wish I wasn't so slammed studying and had more time to work lol
