St Francis Memphis - Nurse tech?

Published

anyone know anything about St francis in memphis??

I notice they have ads for "nurse techs" and it's geared towards RN students within one yr of graduating. ANY idea what they pay??

Does anyone know if St Jude hires Nurse techs and If you have one of the nurse tech positions do you receive hospital (insurance) as well?

Specializes in ICU, Med-Surg, Post-op, Same-Day Surgery.

i believe st. jude does hire student nurses, but i don't know if they are currently doing so and it is highly competitive. they do have a summer intern program that is nationally recognized, so if you don't have to take summer classes that would be an excellent program to apply for.

typically nurse techs/externs are prn and thus are not eligible for benefits since there are no guaranteed hours. it is expected that since you are in school you would not be working full-time anyway, since you are supposed to be studying. :saint: if you are interested in benefits you could consider applying to nursing assistant positions, however, you would likely have to work at least part-time in order to be eligible for benefits. some of my classmates did this in order to support their families while going through nursing school.

i hope that information helps!

It does help. Thank YOu. I work at St Jude now as a Research technologist. I have applied at STCC for the nights and weekend program. I am going to try and pull it off doing both as long as I can. Its going to be tough. But I need the medical insurance and I have two teens in private school. Unfortunately I still have to work.:twocents:

i know this thread is a few years old, so i am going to bump it up.

are there any updates on st. francis' nurse tech/intern program? does it still exist? what does it pay? what do you have to have class-wise in order to be considered?

thanks!
