1st attempt failed (perceptions/opinions NCLEX-RN &CGFNS)

Nursing Students NCLEX

I am a foreign educated nurse. I was so lucky to pass my local nursing board on my 1st attempt. I began to have this confidence that i can also pass this NCLEX-RN and CGFNS exams on my 1st attempt. BEFORE my 1st attempt on taking nclex ,i had this goal of passing this exam on 1st attempt with at least 75Qs. I totally believed that i can do it coz i was successful on my local board. BUT i found out that i failed both exams on 1st attempt. Now i am thinking that even if i pass this exams,it will not be as impressive coz i did not pass it on 1st attempt. Those people who pass on 1st attempt with 75 questions are superior to those who pass it on 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 attempts..........what is your HONEST opinion? pls reply me....thanks.

i wanted to know how you perceive people who passed this exams (nclex-rn &cgfns exams) after failing their 1st attempt.

Hi there. Are you from the PHilippines? Anyways with regards to local Nursing boards from the philippines I passed the first time in june 2006 you know the controversial batch. This year march, while working and doing the paperworks for immigration, I took CGFNS on March 12, I didn't believe I will pass because I was so busy, but I did passed the first time! Thank God. Today I took my NCLEX-RN here in california for the first time. I don't know if i will get that same "luck" that I have with the first two. But NCLEX-RN is the hardest so far that Ive taken, this morning before the test i keep on calming myself, telling to myself that I've gone thru alot of exams already from (Fatima university), local nursing boards from the phils and CGFNS, so I guess I will be alright. But im wrong! Its soo hard. I stopped at 242 to 245. ANd up to now I still telling myself that I failed..but there's little hope in me telling that I can pass..who knows..I just need to wait...I hope soon...its really nerve racking...

Best of luck to both of you

THANKS BETTYBOO...........

Hello I'm not foreign, but my opinion on passing the nclex rn on the first time does not make a person superior it just means that they pass it on the first time. I know nurses that did not pass nclex on the first time, but are very good nurses. I thought most of us got in this field to help people. It shouldn't matter when you pass as long as you pass and give the best care possible to the patients. Once you're a nurse I don't think anyone will be asking how many times did you take boards. good luck with all your accomplishments.

Specializes in icu.

i agree with the person above me.. well said..

I like what ambitious1022 said. You can still be a very good nurse if you had to take NCLEX more than once, etc. It's what you do after you pass that will determine the type of nurse you will become. Choose well!

filipino nurses are the BEST!!!!

hi,, it really doesnt matter if you take the exam for several attempts,,americans are not really into who took the 1st attempt are the one who are really great nurses. As long as you pass it no matter how many times you took it you're still a good nurse. Only filipinos are the one who used to have that mentally..
