SSN and local license not required

Hi, I am new here. I graduated nursing in the Philippines last October. I did not take the Philippine licensure and am now working in Riyadh. I am planning to take the NCLEX-RN test after I finish my contract (in February 2007). I wish to know what state in the U.S. does not require a local license, and releases the license without SSN.

Vermont requires a license, or vlaid reason why you do not have one. If you have one where you are currently working then you are all set.

Remember that if you are going to endorse to antoher state, you will need to meet their requirements for endorsement and may need to do the CES, etc. Chek out what the requirements are for where you wish to work. You may find it not any faster to go the route of Vermont. Also remember that they take about one months time to issue the license.............

hi im sorry i dont know how to use this forum and posted a question similar to this one. when you say vermont requires a valid reason for not having a license in the country you graduated from, is it in a form of a letter? what are some reasons they consider as valid? thank you

Please have a look at the multiple threads on working in Vermont and what you need to do with the letter, etc.

The rest of this thread has old material and is from a year ago. Things continuously change.

thats the thing, i dont know where to look thats why im asking here. this is the hardest forum ive been in. no one comes right out and answers you. people will tell you the most obvious things and yet they dont tell you what you need to know. its so weird. its like people just keep referring you to other places and makes you run around in circles. but ya, thanks anyway.

have you tried using the search facility on this forum and just used key words? I find this a good forum with plenty of people to answer questions but many do not even attempt to use the search facilities and keep asking the same questions

I believe all that is needed is a letter explaining why you didn't take the local exam

Hi! Am new here.... I would like to know the procedure for applying a Licensure in AZ. Am a nursing grad from the Philippines but Im now teaching here in the US. I've been scouring the net for info to no avail. Need help. Thanks!

Also this is a very old thread which makes you question confusing.

I see you are a teacher in KS, why not get licensed in the state that you are living?

Hi..thanks for your reply...I also have a teaching degree and license which is wy I'm teaching High School Biology right now. The thing is that I want to be licensed in nursing too.

You need to apply for licensure to the state that you are interested in. However, have noted that you are teaching in a different state from this one. Not sure why you want to do that at this time.

Since you are teaching, you need to be aware of the fact that more than likely you are under the H1-B visa for that; this visa will not permit you to work as an RN in the US since you can only work for that specific employer. The US has been under a retrogression since October, 2006; it is expected to be more than 7 years for a chance at a green card. And if you still wish to work here, you need to be aware that if you have been away from the bedside for several years it is going to be most difficult to get hired in nursing now. Even Americans that are away from the bedside for even two years are having issues getting back into things.

There are many newer threads discussing this topic that are more current, so going to close this one.
