Nursing Students School Programs
Published Apr 27, 2017
I applied to SRJC's nursing program for 2017. I recently got my lottery number for College of Marin, and is in the wait list for CCSF's nursing prog. Still hoping to get in the the jc's program for fall/spring 2017!

Hello All,
So I just found out I was accepted into the Fall 2018 program, I am super excited but I had a couple questions I was hoping to get answered :)
Could anyone give me any insight on what the schedule is like for the first semester? Our paperwork says it's pretty intense but I was wondering how time consuming it will actually be. We don't have orientation until July and I was hoping to get an idea as soon as possible so I can let my employer know. Thanks!

My schedule:
Monday: 7:30-12 lecture
Tuesday/Wednesday: clinical (you will have an or pm clinicals ; 6:30-2:30 or 1:30 -9:30
Thursday : 8:-12 (skills lab) 1-3:30 lecture
Friday: skills lab (time varies) 8-10 or 10-12:30
Some of my class mates had Saturday/Sunday clinicals. Like I said- it varies.
I have my second semester schedule too.
Second semester is like 2 mini semesters. It switches after 8 weeks
Monday : mostly off aside from exams
Tuesday/Wednesday: 1:30-9:30 clinicals
Thursday : 8-12 ish lecture
The way they do their scheduling is lame. First semester you will have several hour gals between lecture and skills labs. But the bright side is you stop having skills labs after April. Hopefully this helps !
That makes sense. Do you know when we know what our clinical schedule will be like? Do they let us know at orientation?
I doubt you will have your clinical schedule at orientation. I didn't. You don't start clinical until 5 weeks into the first semester. Just FYI.

You really can't schedule much of anything while in the program. There are frequent changes with very little warning. The expectation is that this is your life for the next two years. And beyond class, lab, and clinicals, you need significant study time.
