Spring 2011 UT Health Sciences Nursing Hopefuls

Published

I am a UT Houston hopeful applying for the traditional and accelerated nursing program. I will complete my science prereqs (A&P 1/2) in the summer. I will finish up with Micro and Chem in the fall. I am so focused right now. Anyone else out there? :)

Everpark-

I checked all morning and no luck. I stayed off UT Link for about two hours and around 11:30 the holds had changed. It does not say I have been accepted though yet, but hopefully it will! Keep being patient!

Hi All,

I am not new, I have been on threads from 2 previous semesters but could not remember my log in so I created a new one. I first want to say to everyone who got in CONGRATS to you all! Second I would love to tell Delgadido that nothing is guaranteed...this is my THIRD semester to apply starting in Sept 2009. I have watched friends of mine get accepted and are about to graduate this next semester. It is discouraging but I am SO happy for them. And no they are not guaranteed a job anywhere. Lol! I have friends that have graduated from UTHSC-Houston and are now preceptors for their students. My ex husband works w/the previous president from UTHSC and I have friends that are phd's and work there now. So as you can see, NOTHING is certain except death and taxes as mentioned previously. FINALLY after all that and being very very VERY patient...yesterday morning my holds changed and this morning I saw the most blessed thing ever

"You have been admitted for the term above"

It was unbelievable because I have waited a year and 3 interviews for this opportunity. So for you guys still waiting for an answer, hang in there and be patient...it will happen and for those who have your answers now, take complete advantage of it and don't take one second for granted because it really is a select opportunity.

If it gives some of you hope here are my stats:

Nursing prereq GPA: 3.42

Science GPA: 3.5

HESI: 92

Critical Thinking for Nursing on HESI: 958

10 yrs medical experience

6 different volunteer opportunities over 5 years.

I have realized it doesn't matter tremendously what ur scores as to how they choose, its all about heart, persistence and will to make it through and to make a difference. Scores and grades are just a piece of it.

Good luck to everyone and I VERY much look forward to meeting ALL of my future classmates in December at orientation.

What holds are you guys talking about that are changing?

I have a couple more holds on my application than I did last week but I'm not sure if these are the holds you guys are talking about. This is what I have currently:

Criminal background check

Current CPR card hold

Immunizations

Residency Form hold

For those that have had their status updated to accepted, do you have the same holds or are there others?

For those of you who have more holds on your application, are they the same ones as mine?

I have more holds! :)

congrats to all of you who are in!!!

Unfortunately nothing has changed for me....I really hope I get in, but I'm starting to feel discouraged. I need to stop refreshing my UTLink page haha. I just need to have a little more faith...

Blessednurse77 - Thank you for sharing your story and congratulations on being accepted. You will make a wonderful nurse!

Eyrehead,

The holds I have are the ones that you have plus an admissions documents hold. Hopefully they're just now updating your UT Link! Keep checking!

Blessednurse77,

CONGRATULATIONS! I am humbled to here your story and and am very happy for you.

Can't wait to meet you all! Facebook group anyone?

If your holds say that then yes, they have changed and you were more than likely accepted.

Congrats!

Steph39323,

Have you completed all of your prereqs? I'm wondering if the "admissions hold" has something to do with pending (in progress) class.

Thanks for responding.

Eyrehead,

I think they are just the admissions forms that have to be returned to the UTHSC once the admissions packet arrives. But, yes, I do have my Philosophy course in progress right now. Everything else is completed.

Blessednurse77,

I am happy you got accepted. Hard work and persistent had bought you here.

I am glad to have you as a collegue.

Thank you sharing your story.

Yes, my prereqs are completed. . . Have just been waiting in the mean time getting all my financial aid stuff in order, renewed BLS and getting residency form filled out so when I get the packet I can just go turn everything in.
