anyone else here looking to get into either seminole state's spring 2011 program or the concurrent as-bsn ucf-ssc concurrent program for spring 2011? i will be applying soon myself, and would like to see if there are other such applicants on here. maybe we can help each other!
looking forward to meeting new people.
I talked to many people about this and I bought Littman Classic II. I was considering the Cardio, but I do not think we need that much. I spoke to a doktor I know and she said the same- the Littman classic II is enough. I haven't gotten an e-mail from UCF yet. I will let you know if I have one.
I have done a great deal of research online, and asked other students and my providers as well. The Classic II will definitely suffice for nursing school. There is supposed to be a great difference is the quality and ability to pick up on less distinct sounds with the cardio scopes though. From what I have read on this site, it is quite common for nursing students to purchase or recieve the cardio scopes as gifts when they graduate or once they enter practice. Some continue on with the more basic scopes though, and are happy enough. I will be going on to graduate school, either in nursing graduate studies or possibly med school...not sure yet! But it is a definite plan- this is why I am getting my BSN right away. The cardio scope is one that is actually recommended in graduate school. The scope is a graduation gift for me right now and it will be engraved, etc., so that I can use it for many years to come! I also have a special interest in cardiology and heart sounds so this makes it all the more appealing for me personally.
What colors did you all decide on?
Anxiously awaiting the UCF email....
Has anyone been called for/picked up their orders from Uniformity? I ordered on the 17th of November and called but was told it wouldn't be ready until a week before classes start!
Try reddingmedical.com for the sthestoscope, they have great prices for either model you choose and they engrave it for you in just days. I called Uniformity and was told the same thing. I am kinda ticked about it cause I rushed over there on the 18th only to wait and get it at the same time as everyone else. And, what if they don't fit right. Arrgh! I ordered the new brass finish with black tubing Classic II SE Littman... it looks cool... and it was really reasonably priced.
Nothing from UCF...
Still nothing from UCF here either. Considering contacting someone else to ask about this. We weren't supposed to do anything other than create a UCF mail account, right? I also noticed (as of last night) we were unable to sign up for the fit testing yet.
Jacksonleo: this whole uniform delay with this particular company bothered me too. After doing some googling last night, I saw that the particular brand of uniform that they are requiring from Uniformity (Landau) is sold online through countless vendors. Here is one for example: http://www.lydiasuniforms.com/scrubs/products.asp?sku=8320&cat=180&t=Scrubs_-_Landau_Ladies%27_Pull-on_Scrub_Pant
That is the classic fit sold at Uniformity. If you look online elsewhere you will find prices from $16-22 for the pant. The warm up jacket can also be found. I needed to order a second of all the items, but I am not doing it from Uniformity now. In fact, when I did go there in November, I preordered only. So it's more likely now I'll just order online (same brand, color-royal blue, fit) and get the items much faster than the delay Uniformity is forcing on us. Oh and by the way...Landau (and other manufacturers) sell royal blue pants that are very similar to the two types @ the store but not quite as high on the waist . I am tempted..hmm.
But yeah, there is no reason to wait on that company, although I am sure they do like all the business...
Edit: Also here's the link to the relaxed fit other Landau pant: http://www.lydiasuniforms.com/scrubs/products.asp?sku=8327&cat=180&t=Scrubs_-_Landau_Ladies'_Pull-on_Pant
This one does have the royal blue color. The other link for the classic fit does not include the royal blue. Other sites have it though.
Yes; just set up the UCF email account and wait.. I did see that registration for Health assessment class is available so I am going to try to register for that one and see what happens. It is the lab that we were going to be assigned to? I am getting bombarded with emails about all these quizzes that we have to take before the 3rd. Ouch. Still studying for my last final and need a breather..
I also noticed that other stores carry the same pants/tops so I think I will wait to get the first set and then take them with me just to make sure they are the same before I order another set. Nestadren, we exchanged emails while at orientation and have been communicating among us that way, I didn't get a chance to get yours so if you want to send me a private message with that info and I will include you. My stethoscope is due to arrive tomorrow, I will let you know how it is... I went ahead and ordered a kit with scissors etc., which is mandatory as part of the uniform according to the student handbook...
Wow. I haven't been getting any of these emails myself. I did read on the sakai site that spring classes won't be available on Sakai until the first day of the term, Jan. 10th. I know that at orientation we were told things to do by the 3rd, so I am pretty confused about that.
I will PM you my email. Thanks :)
So far there are no weekend classes or clinicals. Mondays 8:00 am to 9:30 p.m., Tuesdays 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. or 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. (depending what class you were registered for), Wednesdays 4:00 to 9:30 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays will vary depending on whether we have lab, class, clinicals or other scheduled activities either at school or other locations. So far nothing scheduled before 11:00 a.m. I think we have one activity scheduled on a Saturday this semester.
I agree with Jacksonleo, this is what my schedule look like for UCF concurrent Program evening track so far:
UCF classes:
Monday:8:00 to 2:00pm
then Seminole State schedule:
Monday: Fundamentals of Nursing Class 5:00PM-9:30PM (so you are there all day only on Monday)
Tuesday: Pharmacology: 3:00PM-6:00PM or you can choose 6:00PM-9:00PM
Wednesday: Fundamentals of Nursing Class and/or Lab: 4:00PM-9:30PM
Thursday: Fundamentals of Nursing Class and/or Lab: 4:00PM-9:30PM
Friday: Open Lab (for you to practice lab skills) or other scheduled orientations for Hospitals...etc
I saw another posting from 2009 and schedule was detailed exactly the same.
Lots of reading
and for UCF you have Research papers and other writting assignments.
Hello,I may not be addressing this question on the right thread but what is the schedule like in Spring 2011 UCF concurrent program? Will you guys have regular day classes or evening and weekends?
Thank you for your time!
Hey Everyone- I am starting the Valencia UCF Concurrent Program which is piloting this Fall and is suppose to be following the same track as SSC-UCF. I was wondering if you had to buy seperate clinical uniforms for UCF, and also what books you need for NUR3065 and Nur3806 (Im trying to get ahead)
Also, any words of advice or suggestions?
Thanks:o)
