To all of those that are starting the nursing program this Spring when is your orientation? Mine is next Friday 11/21.:yeah:I am so excited/nervous:uhoh21: . I still have to get my BLS certificate, before I start the program. I'm thinking about going this weekend to just get it out the way.
I went to my schools bookstore and while i was there I went over to look at what books are used for RN1, one of the guys that work there said with everything it can easly cost up to $700 for books. I told him I didn't care what the books cost, I plan to buy them all:D
Good Luck To All :icon_hug:
About immunizations - You all will never believe this....i somehow made it through my highschool years without my Hepitits B series. Although that was 13+ years ago...that is kinda odd. But i got the record from my HS since i couldn't find the original after my mom died about 20 months ago. So, last week i had to get that started (and found the original record). I was worried with the acceptace packet stating we had to have our immunizations complete. Luckily i talked to the NS adminstration and they said i'd be fine since i started it now, and they said that is why they let us know of the requirements before the start of classes. WHEW~ i was scared i was going to lose my spot.....
I too have to get the BLS certification, but i think we sign up for that at orientation too. I will let you all know what happens if you want.....
Yeah i'm in the same boat with immunizations. I grew up in Australia and wouldn't have a clue where my records are so it is easier just to have all of the shots done again. I started my hep B nearly 2 weeks ago and then started my 2 step TB, turns out my last TB was still within the year so I only needed the TB done once and that would be the second step since then i'd have two within the year. Now I can start the MMR and Varicella and tetorifice. Still need to get my CPR and drug screen also...so many things to do it's crazy lol.
I got all my immunizations done its just a matter of finding the records technically not being lazy to find them but my schedule for Spring Semester is pretty hectic M 9am-5pm with a 3 hr break, T 9am-9pm with three 2 hr breaks and W 11am-4pm with 1 hr break and the sweet and sour part i get Thurs and Fridays "off" which im pretty sure will be filled with studying and as far as my program thier is one summer session so ill be out God willing May 2010 WHOO HOO CLASS OF 2010 oh congrats to all who are and thanks to the person that started this thread

Those are longs days, but the good thing is you get to have Thurs and Fridays off. I'm sure everything will balance itself out. Are you planning to work? With my schedule I'm going try and get something on the weekend. I work fulltime now, but with morning classes I'm not sure it my job will allow me to come in for a couple of hours a day:plsebeg:. I plan to ask them though just to see what they will say. :anbd:

lol...i do plan on working 12-20 hrs a week depending on the courseload..where do you work? I'm pretty sure if they really like you and understand the situation they should let you stay...let me know how that goes when you do tell them
my orientation/luncheon will be Jan. 8th! I'm so excited! School starts on the 12th. I just passed the teas last Friday and it's such a relief...its like a ton of bricks off my shoulders! In January, I hear we will have a tour of the labs, meet our first semester instructors, and have a chance to purchase our uniform patches. Did I mention I'm soooo excited?!
Good luck to all who are waiting...its all worth it!:redbeathe

I'm due to take the TEAS on Dec 10. how was the test. How did you prepare for it.
Thanks!
wow I can't believe so many of you already had your orientation!! I still haven't heard from 7 schools yet if I've been accepted! Seems crazy to think that these schools give you maybe a month before classes start to let you know if you are in or not. Talk about milking it to the last second!:argue:

I had BLS for Healthcare Providers today also. It was a luck of the draw that I got into this class, someone informed me of it earlier this week and I jumped on it. It was a good class and we got to practice AED which I had not done in previous CPR classes. I also got my TB and Tdap on yesterday so I'm hoping I'm set to go in the immunizations portion. I'm getting more and more excited by the day.
