Spring 09 Orientation...when is yours?

To all of those that are starting the nursing program this Spring when is your orientation? Mine is next Friday 11/21.:yeah:I am so excited/nervous:uhoh21: . I still have to get my BLS certificate, before I start the program. I'm thinking about going this weekend to just get it out the way.

I went to my schools bookstore and while i was there I went over to look at what books are used for RN1, one of the guys that work there said with everything it can easly cost up to $700 for books. I told him I didn't care what the books cost, I plan to buy them all:D

Good Luck To All :icon_hug:

Orientation for accelerated BSN/MSN at Pace is Jan. 15th. Classes start on Jan 21st. I am feeling the same way you are. Congrats and good luck to you. :)

For the BSN school i am going to in the Spring - the orientation is the first week in December. I am very excited and nervous. I have heard so many stories of how hard it is, especially the first semester. I am trying to keep the mindset of "I will make it through!" - the power of positive thinking is a good thing.

Have you heard anything about the schedule of your first semester? I'm curious to know about clinicals, and when they may start.

Good luck and congrats! :yeah:

Unfortunately I have my orientation Jan 8th and 9th and school starts Jan, 12th which really really really sucks and i cant wait

Jan. 8 and 9. looking forward to it. I want to get the jitters out of the way and know the people I am going to work with for 2 years!

My orientation is mid-December. The wait is killing me, although the acceptance packet did have some info in it concerning the dosage class and test, book costs, uniform costs and info about being fitted for them at orientation.

The acceptance packet mentioned being CPR certified prior to spring classes. However, it then said to take a summer CPR course to ensure that the certificate is valid for the duration of the program. We can't wait until summer because we need to be certified for Spring semester. Contradictions like this bug me! I'll just have to wait until orientation to figure out what they mean. I had planned to take a CPR course in December if I could find one.

I do not want to call the nursing office and draw attention to myself by asking about it. I'll just wait until orientation when they will provide more info on CPR.

BTW--the nursing dept estimated the 1st year books to cost $800, and 2nd year $275. Uniforms will cost $175 for a dress, a pants set, a lab coat, and a name pin. There was no "or" beside the dress part, so I assume that we will be forced to get both the dress and the pants. Yuck.

My orientation and registration is Dec. 15th. I am so excited!!! I wish it was tomorrow so I'd know more about the program (class schedule, clinicals, etc)!

Ours is 11/21 next Friday also or 12/2... I'm choosing the 11/21 because I want to know all the specifics now :chuckle Let's keep this thread alive and post back after orientation.

So since we are starting in Spring 2008, does it mean we will graduate/finish December 2010 making us class of 2010 still?

Mine is 12/3, and I'm already excited.......they didn't give us a welcome package with our acceptance letter, so I'm really looking forward to orientation so I can have all the information I need about the program, registration, immunization, etc.

Congrats to all of us!!!!! :yeah:We are on our way to become nurses.......:nurse:

our orientation is going to be on december the 6th, and aparently we are going to be there for 8 hours!!!! at least is what the e-mail says!

maybe they are going to give us some cpr? some other stuff???

my program starts jan 5th

Texas Tee,

I guess it depends on what length the program you are going to is. Mine is 2 years - specifically only 4 semesters with no courses/clinicals during the summer.

So - yes for those attending a 2 year nursing program we should graduate December 2010!!!! Its hard to believe i had already been going to school for 2 years - so the next two will probably fly by - - - i'm so excited, this is truly a dream come true for this opportunity!

Thanks. We also have a "Keys to Success Orientation" to go to also thats mandatory and this is for 8hrs, the other Orientation is only for 2hrs. I believe our program starts on January 12th but some (including me) may have to start as early as January 3rd to take an Intro to Nursing course. I'm so excited! :lol2:Congratulations everyone! :redpinkhe

Hello TexasTee :), when you graduate all depends on how long your program is. For example, the BSN portion of my program will begin and end in the same year, 2009. However graduation takes place in Jan. 2010. Many schools graduates students 3 times per year; Jan, June and September. However, they often hold only one BIG ceremony which is usually in May or June depending on the school. Good luck Texas, and all of us embarking on our journey next year... better yet, in 2 months:bugeyes:!!!

EDIT: Sorry Texas... I didn't know "Nurse2Be 2010" had already answered your question.
