Hi! Anyone else looking to apply to NCC for the Spring 2019 Nursing Program? I'm so curious and anxious to know if I have enough 'points' to make the cut. How are you guys feeling? How are your points/stats adding up?
I went to Suffolk's info session. They basically said Suffolk residents take priority then if they have spots left they will look at residents from other county's. She basically said in the 10 years she's been there she's never seen someone from another area get a seat. I'm not sure if it would differ for LPNs. When I called the nursing department at Nassau the women was helpful. I think now they would probably be more willing to help since people might not be calling in as often
Ok, great. Thanks for the info. I've always lived in Suffolk, I guess I should have really looked into them before Nassau. I'll only focused on Nassau because I did ALL my pre & corequisites there. Anyway fingers crossed.
thank you so I need to make sure I make the cut without micro basically
You could totally get in without having completed micro, assuming requirements remained the same once they switch to a BSN. I didn't complete A&P2, biomedical ethics, or micro and I got accepted. Just have to bust your ass!
Wait what?? I thought A&P2 was a required pre-req?!
None of them are actual pre requisites, its just the more you have completed then the better chance you have. I'm in the middle of A&P2 and biomedical ethics now, so they might have seen they are in progress and that could've helped as well.
Hi everyone! Congrats to everyone who got in to Spring 2019 program. I am applying for Fall 19 and went to the info tonight. They did mention the new AS/BS program which they said is a 99% percent starting in Fall 2019. The dean said they are just waiting for paperwork to be approve. The liberal arts requirements will be the same. They only added 2 classes which is Bio 131 (Pathophysiology) and English 102. The program will be broken down to 3 years in nassau, you will get an associate in nursing and take the nclex to get your RN license then continue on the 4th year with Empire state college for the BSN. You need to pass the nclex to continue on. The Empire state classes are all online. The new program will take 4 years to complete but at least you can take the Nclex to be an RN in 3 years and can work will finishing the 4th year. I am also glad they only added 2 other required classes which I already took. They said they will not be adding chemistry to the requirements. Hope this helps for those who are wondering about the new program. They also mentioned that if you are currently not attending NCC you may apply to the program now through admissions online.

If I'm reading this correctly, it'll take a 3 years to complete for associates and an extra year for bachelors so 4 years total? Is there a way to speed that up?
i like the idea of no chem it literally makes me want to jump with joy considering the only extra class I would need is patho but part of me is debating should I reconsider the idea of making NCC nursing program an idea for me again because Adelphi I could be done in 2 years and if I really wanted to 1 1/2 years at most the only thing not making me fully commit to that idea is money but with NCC It might be the time it takes for me to finish that steers me away
Yes 3 years to complete the associates part According to the people at info session. I asked the same question about speeding it up they said the nursing courses are sequential so even if you already took all the liberal arts prereqs it will take 3 years. They said they are incorporating some of the bsn nursing classes to the associate part so you don't have take them before taking the nclex and dont havd to take duringyour 4th year. I dont really like the length of the new program.
I mean even if you already took all the liberal arts prereqd it will take 3 years.
I applied and got accepted to Adelphi for this semester but decided not to go because of the tuition cost. They offered me a 14K a year tuition but I still needed to come up with almost 30 grand. I also needed to take their chemistry class. You should ask about schorlarships at Adelphi. I got it because of my gpa. Good luck!
