Spring 2019 Lone Star Hopefuls

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I've decided to make this page for anyone applying for the Spring 2019 ADN program at Lone Star CF/K. I'm so nervous and it's still kinda far away! Good luck!

So, for the score sheet, the part that asked about English and A&P, anyone know how that works?? Is it the points you earned toward your GPA? Both classes got a B, so thinking about retaking one, but idk which!?

If I were you I would retake both classes if you're wanting to apply at lonestar "/ its sooo competitive. Allll nursing programs are. Even if you retook one of the classes for an A and got a 95 on the hesi, you would still only have 7.3 points "/ it's hard to get a 95 on the hesi though.

If you titer comes out that you do not have immunity to hep B, then you have to repeat the vaccine series which is 3 shots and that takes 7 months. You can submit your titer with your first shot on the application, but the full series must be completed before school starts in January. There is an accelerated series which takes a month I believe. If you go back a few pages I posted a list of clinics that offer it. Just call and ask if they do the accelerated hep b vaccine.

hey guys! quick question. Is there a certain amount of times you are able to take the hesi before they wont consider you for the program?

Thank you so much for replying! Getting it done today!

I believe only twice! I'm not a hundred percent sure. But I do know they are suppose to be 60 days apart!

I would not retake either unless you plan on only applying to Lonestar's nursing program. Schools do look at how many retakes you have especially if it was a science/major pre-req.

Im curious to know which school has issue with retakes. I have not heard that.

I don't know about Lonestar, but I know many BSN programs that do take retakes into account. That is not to say that you won't get into a program because you repeated 2-3 courses. There are lots of schools that replace the higher grade and don't take the first attempt into account. However, schools like UTMB only allows applicants to retake 2 pre-req courses. If more, then you're not able to apply. UTHSC also looks into how many classes you retake. They do take the higher grade of a class you retook, but both attempts are calculated into your overall gpa. It's just something to keep in mind because nursing programs are competitive.

Don't hold me to this...but I think it's 3x. You can only take the hesi 3x a year for lonestar. This is what the lady told me at the testing center, but I'm trying to look on the website and I'm only seeing that it says you have to take it every 60 days...idk if that means you can do it an unlimited amount of times as long as it's 6" days apart.

For the high school diploma/ged section, did you guys scanned your diploma or got an unofficial transcript of your high school and uploaded it?

I believe they want the actual certificate. If you have it just scan it and make sure it's in pdf format before you upload it. I actually have my GED and lost it, so I went to tea.texas.gov and got my certificate with the scores and everything for $5. They sent a pdf so I just uploaded that to the application.
