I'm scheduled to graduate at the same time, May, 2014. I'm at UAB in the adult acute care- gerontology program. I'm just starting my first clinical this summer. I was planning to start next week but now they're telling me I have to do a class for their EHR. I know I should've thought about this sooner but I thought I was all set. So, now I'm getting nervous that I'm not going to get my 135 hours in. But, I truly do believe that it will pass by fast. I'm so ready to be finished with school and just be able to focus on family, career, and get back into church on a regular basis.
I do not graduate in 2014 but this December of 2013. I just wanted to say the last year will go really fast. It didn't feel that way when my semester started in Jan but now the year is half over and going really fast. You will feel the same. Good luck with everything...graduation will come soon.
I finished my first semester of clinical last week you wont believe how much you will grow/learn after clinical and just think how much you will know when your done all your clinicals. I start my summer clinicals next week and I know what you mean its going to be tough to get in 130 hours between now and august. We got this though:)
I'm doing NNP and will be done in August 2014. I'm working full-time, but am taking a vacation day once a week so I'll only be working 2 days a week. The summer clinical is apparently 55 hours per week, so I'll definitely have to quit my job then.
When are people starting to look for jobs? It looks it'll be a couple of months to become eligible to take the boards and then another month or two to get the state license. I hope my current job will hire me again (they don't do leave of absences) or I guess I will be taking a traveler nurse position! Unfortunately, there's not much to study from for the NNP boards compared to the FNP, ACNP, PNP ones, so I think I'll get started early on that.
Nice thread topic! I am projected to Graduate as an FNP in May of 2014 as well. I have a 14 year history of ICU/hospital nursing. I, too am contemplating the job search. At this point in my career, I feel that I want to be a little more discerning about the type of job I take. The problem is, I don't know if I am really into the Family office setting, or the stress of the acute setting. How do I know what is 'right' for me, as well as what other possibilities there may be?
I applied for FNP and ACNP when I applied to school. We were told to give two choices. I got into the ACNP program. I just finished my first clinical in an internal medicine office. I loved it so much I didn't want to leave. I have had my share if hospital nursing over the years and really want an office job when I graduate but I'm scared it'll be hard to get because I live in a rural area and I won't be able to see kids. I really don't want 12 hr shifts and holidays. I want to get a job where I can see my family more. Any other NP have this problem?

I'm a Family Nurse Practitioner student, eagerly waiting to graduate in ONE year--May 2014.
People keep telling me it will fly by, but honestly, the past 2 years have NOT flown by, I feel like it's taking forever.
I finished my first clinical semester with Adult 1, and I'm about to begin Adult 2 for the summer. I feel like once the summer is over, it might feel closer to graduation because I only have clinicals with peds/womens, and then my FINAL with transitions.
I'm 28, newly married, and I want to move on with my life, get a job, and start a family!!
I work full-time in the ICU. I have off one day a week with school, work, and clinical.
I figured it would be fun to start a thread to help those along who are graduating at the same time...
Anyone else??
