Presenting to the attending physician
I am very close to completion of my AGACNP program. I'm doing clinicals with a hospitalist group. They have offered me a job after obtaining my license. I'm scared of looking stupid in front of them. I don't want them to think they've hired a complete idiot. But I am having difficulty presenting my admissions to the attending. My preceptor says I say too much and should only include pertinent details. Well I am scared of leaving something out. Is there a template or something to help me with this ? I appreciate any advice.

ACNP job question - please advise
I live in Mississippi. I am scheduled to graduate from an AGACNP program next month. I have a job offer with a hospitalist group. They have offered a rate of $44.15/hr. Is this the average beginning salary or should I ask for more? Just starting off I really don't want to push my luck. But, I've been a RN for >20 years and my hourly rate is 32/hr. I guess I was hoping for more. Please advise. Thank you.

What to carry to hospital clinicals
Hello, I'm in an acute care NP program. I was just wondering what any of might have taken to clinical with you. I have an iPad that I want to take but I need a few other things too. I was thinking about getting either a clipboard that has the storage area or a portfolio, any suggestions? I'll be rounding on the floors with a hospitalist. Thanks!!

Spring 2014 Graduates
I applied for FNP and ACNP when I applied to school. We were told to give two choices. I got into the ACNP program. I just finished my first clinical in an internal medicine office. I loved it so much I didn't want to leave. I have had my share if hospital nursing over the years and really want an office job when I graduate but I'm scared it'll be hard to get because I live in a rural area and I won't be able to see kids. I really don't want 12 hr shifts and holidays. I want to get a job where I can see my family more. Any other NP have this problem?

Barleys hime NP review
Looking for a little advice here. After this semester I have two more in the ACNP program at UAB. Has anyone used the Barley home review? I want something to help during school as well as to study for boards. This program is expensive. I don't mind buying it if it helps. Anyone have any insight? Thanks.

Dialysis Training Program in the New York City Area
I have done dialysis now for 13 years. I currently work for Fresenius. They have a very extensive orientation program. I've never heard of dialysis school. But, that's what got my attention to this post. I find that they even have such a school very interesting. Once hired in dialysis you will be well trained to do the job by the end of your orientation period. No one will expect you to fly solo for a long time. I was told when I was first hired that you don't even begin to feel like you know anything until after 6 months and don't really feel comfortable until one year. I tell all new employees this because I find it to be very true. The new employees that have the hardest time are those that come in thinking they will know dialysis well in a short period of time. I've seen a lot if people quit after just a few weeks because they get overwhelmed. It's a great job!! It's one where you either love it or hate it. I'm currently in NP school and hope to stay in dialysis working for one of the nephrologists. Good luck on finding a dialysis job. I think the school could be helpful but not necessary. Whatever company that hires you will train you to do things "their way."

Spring 2014 Graduates
I'm scheduled to graduate at the same time, May, 2014. I'm at UAB in the adult acute care- gerontology program. I'm just starting my first clinical this summer. I was planning to start next week but now they're telling me I have to do a class for their EHR. I know I should've thought about this sooner but I thought I was all set. So, now I'm getting nervous that I'm not going to get my 135 hours in. But, I truly do believe that it will pass by fast. I'm so ready to be finished with school and just be able to focus on family, career, and get back into church on a regular basis.

Advanced Pharm-Tests or Papers
I took it at UAB online. You really can't cheat much because they time the exam. We didn't write any papers in this class.

UAB MSN Fall 2013
I live in Mississippi. I work 30+ hours/week. I take call so it varies. I have not had any problems so far with clinical placement. You don't start clinical until the last three semesters. I have my first clinical setup to start next month and just sent out an email yesterday regarding fall clinical and got a positive reply before the end of the day. The one for summer had several applicants prior to mine. I was told I was chosen because I am at UAB. In this area UAB is very well respected.

QA and skills review
Thanks so much. I really appreciate your help. The assignment is to choose a procedure we are learning this semester and describe the pros and cons, the procedure, etc. The part I'm having difficulty with is that we are to explain how we will maintain that skill and how we plan to monitor the QA of performing it. Thanks

QA and skills review
Hello everyone. I need some information please. I am in ACNP school and have an assignment to describe how I will maintain my skills adequately after graduation. Also, how will I develop a QA plan for demonstrating my skills level. Is it a requirement to have a QA plan in place? Also how do you keep your skills, such as Central line placement up to date? Thanks in advance for any help. I've searched the Internet and emailed my board if nursing without success in finding answers.

UAB online... Clinicals per week?
Oh just thought of something. You will have to go to campus 1-2 times a semester once you are in advanced assessment
