Published

I know this is pretty early but i just finished my pre reqs for nursing and im on the border but I seriously CAN NOT wait to apply in march! Ill be finishing my AA if i dont get in.. so i will apply again if that happens but fingers crossed it wont! 3.766 gpa for application.. are you all excited?! Congrats to who got in last semester by the way! What how do you all feel at this point in time? Im feeling a huge accomplishment coming! --:nailbiting::nurse::nailbiting:

It is weird that it's already so late in the day and we still haven't received anything. So frustrating, but still really hope all of us waiting receive good news tonight. They sent a email June 30th that they would notify alternates July 17th. If no email or a bad news email I will be at the HEC tomorrow morning. Alternates are always accepted (can look at old allnurses SPC threads). I don't believe there has ever been a time when no alternates were chosen. I was really hopeful that I'd be accepted being alternate number 4..

Last year they notified alternates July 12th. This wait has been torture

I thought alternates were only chosen if people chose not to go into the SPC Nursing program for whatever reason or if they did not complete the checklist in time or couldn't pass the background/drug test. I think Spring of last year was an exception, in which all alternates got accepted. They only have room for 90 people and the EAYL people take up 30 seats or so.

A HEC advisor had told someone on here that there is 10 spots open, that just 80 of the 90 seats had been filled. Who knows. I would be shocked if for the first time ever no alternates were needed to be chosen. It's normal for not all seats to be accepted for various reasons. All nursing programs have a alternate list / wait list because not everyone follows through with their acceptance.

True. I hope for the sake of people waiting that it's the case. How nerve wracking!

So once you find out, what happens? Do you only have a short time to complete that checklist? Do you have to go to an orientation?

Yep if selected we would be given a checklist. If all the requirements aren't completed then more people will be chosen from the alternate list. In my alternate email I received June 30th it stated we may be notified as late as the Friday before class starts that we are accepted. There's a separate alternate orientation. I think last year it was July 26th.

Wow, how do you get that checklist completed ibefore classes start? Seems odd. What if someone doesn't pass the background/drug test? It's far fetched, but it happens.

Nothing still!!
