SPC Fall 2014 Nursing Applicants

Published

So I have done my application for SPC's RN program as well as BayCare's EAYL program. I'm just curious how many other people on here are also applying. We can wait for our acceptance's (wishful thinking) together.

Any idea what the actual full tuition for the nursing program is?

Per the admission guide, the estimated tuition is roughly $4550.

Dang thats cheap :uhoh3:

Im hoping to get in as an alternate but i was wondering if anyone who has been accepted has any idea which titers we need to get for the program and how long are they good for.

I am entering PHSC program, but will tell you what the standard is. Just tell them you need to run titers and the doctor should know but they should check immunity for:

MMR

Varicella

Hep B (if you have ever been immunized on this)

*** You can get around the above titers if you can show proof of immunization records from the last 3 years ***

Need:

DTaP - must have record of being done in last 10 years (PHSC allows you to say you had Pertussis vac as kid and just get tetorifice booster)

PPD

Hope that helps!

That helps thanks

That helps thanks

No problem ;)

Hello,

I got in at SPC...

You can sign a declination of the Hepatitis B vaccine if you do not want this vaccination. Otherwise, you will need to show proof of the series of 2 shots or get the titer. "One of the following is required: A positive antibody titer (lab report required) OR signed declination form."

You need Measles, Mumps, Rubella vaccinations within the past 10 years or positive titers. "One of the following is required: 2 vaccinations OR positive antibody titer for all 3 components (lab report required). If any titer is negative or equivocal, you must repeat series."

DtaP booster is required within the past 10 years. Unlike Pasco, we are not given the option of just getting the Tetorifice shot. "Documentation of a Tdap booster within the past 10 years. The renewal date will be set for 10 years from the administered date of the booster."

You also need Varicella or positive titer. "2 vaccinations OR a positive antibody titer (lab report required) for Varicella. If titer is negative or equivocal, new alerts will be created for you to submit 2 vaccinations at least 28 days apart are required."

The flu shot is required by all clinical sites. You used to be able to decline it. However, they do not want you to get this shot until the next flu season (around September/October).

Here is the information for the TB test:

One of the following is required: 2 step TST (one to three weeks apart) OR 2 consecutive years of TST OR IGRA's: QuantiFERON or T-Spot. IF Any TST positive results, provide a baseline CXR with TB report followed by annual TB Questionnaire OR Proof of BCG Vaccine and obtain baseline CXR with TB report followed by annual TB Questionnaire. IF IGRA's positive result, obtain a baseline CXR with TB report followed by annual TB Questionnaire. **NOTE: CXR does not have to be repeated if there is a TB report, annual TB Questionnaire is required. The renewal date will be set at 1 year. Upon renewal, one of the following is required: 1 TST OR if positive results, a TB Questionnaire.

You will also need a physical. They have their own special form from the college which the doctor needs to fill out for that!

I messed up...the Hepatitis B vaccination is a series of 3 shots.

How's everyone feeling post-orientation? Did everyone get their choices for classes? I got my first choice!! I know we can't say teacher names but I got Morton Plant Hospital for daytime so that should tell ya'll who I have. Any one else in my class? :)

Drew and I both chose St. Anthony's and got in to that. The orientation was a bit overwhelming, but most of what was said I had already read on forums on here. So, I wasn't too surprised by anything. But, still it's a lot to do!

Alternate acceptance letters are out early... two of my friends got in today!
