SPC Fall 2014 Nursing Applicants

Published

So I have done my application for SPC's RN program as well as BayCare's EAYL program. I'm just curious how many other people on here are also applying. We can wait for our acceptance's (wishful thinking) together.

Just got my email....and holy crap, I GOT IN!!!!!

I have been refreshing my e-mail like crazy. I AM IN TOOOOOO!!! I can't freaking believe it!!! I have not slept well all week. I am praying that now I will be able to catch some z's before I start freaking out again about the upcoming seminar and classes starting! I am planning on taking classes in the daytime.

Letters are out day early. I'm an alternate. Still in MCB so kind of expected it. :(

Im an alternate too :( Where are you on the list?

From what I've read on other forums for past semesters, roughly 20 alternates seem to get in so good luck to ya'll.

Sorry to hear those who didn't get in :(

Im hoping im #1 on the alternate list. So now i get to spend almost another month ripping my hair out waiting to find out if I get in. They said we would find out the 26 th or up till a week before class starts.

Omg that must be killer to be #1!! It's horrible that you still have to wait but on the plus side it's like 98% sure you'll get in from what I've heard about the alternate list!

I hope so.

Congratulations to everyone who made it in!

If you could keep us alternates in the loop so we know whats going on in the off chance that we do make it in that would be amazing!

I got in :D see you in class

Does anyone know anything about the ati test we have to take? Does it matter if we do well on it because I didn't study for it at all.

Hey there, I am pretty sure the ATI is the TEAS. It does not affect us in any real noticeable way. I think that it is just for SPC to get an idea of where their student pool stands on their existing knowledge. I have not studied for it either, but I did take a practice exam today and got a 65% on it! Yikes! I have heard that there is a fair amount of chemistry and metric system conversions on this exam. I haven't taken chemistry since high school, which was 16 years ago for me and I pretty much abhor the metric system. So, I am not expecting too much for myself when it comes to this test. This is some information which I found on some official "meeting notes" which were uploaded on SPC's website last year:

ATI – A standardized test that stimulates NCLEX questions. Students are not required to pass this test. Starting this semester students are mandated to practice before sitting for ATI. Now students will be required to remediate if they do not meet the bench-mark by mid-term of the next semester; otherwise faculty will not be able to award a Satisfactory on Clinical grades. ATI score improvement is important for us to see the data on the success of our students as they prepare for NCLEX to provide workshops in weak areas. ATI scores are not counted in Theory class grade because the test content is not structured within our class content. The program is being held accountable for that content. It is now mandated that students must prove remediation via focus review, includes tailoring to weakest area –at least 5 hours of study in that area & Nurse Logic which teaches students to critically thinking and correctly answer questions, and students must score 90% on different format of test by mid-term of the following semester. It has been suggested that CON look into customizing test content for ATI
