Hey there! I'm enrolled in that program and start my (nursing) classes in the Fall.

Glad to see someone else on here!

Specializes in L&D, Mother/Baby, and Pediatrics.

Hey SCC guys! I am currently in the ADN program now, and will be graduating in Dec. YAY!!!!! I wish you both the best of luck, hang in there b/c it will be worth it! :mortarboard:

Man Oh Man, I'm SO glad you're here on this board and posting! I'm entering the program in the Fall, and I have NO idea what to expect. During which semester do you start clinicals? The first? or the Second?

And what did you do about your working/living situation your first semester.

I cant seem to get any information from anyone so far. Thanks so much!

Have you been accepted to the program?

Yes I have. I'm currently undergoing the criminal background check and the drug testing.

Early registration is July 9th and school begins on the 20th of August.

I havent received my information packet yet; the one that details what courses come first and how many hours and all that, but I know it's soon to come after the CBC and the testing.

Anyword on your status?

I just recently graduated from the program this May. Took boards on June 19th and now I am a RN. The program is very intense. They made several changes during the 2 years I was there, and they were for the better. They have worked many of the kinks out. As far as clinicals, I am not sure how they will schedule them. In our last semester, we had 7 weeks of lecture and had to take the final exam and pass before being allowed to go to clinicals. I don't know if this will be the same for you. You will have clinicals in your fundamentals course which I do believe is first semester. Just stay organized and read your notes and text everyday. You will do just fine. Also get an NCLEX practice question book and find questions to answer that go along with the units they are covering. If you ever have any specific questions, just send me a PM.

:balloons:Well, congrats on the accomplishment, and thank you for sharing your experience. Did you work while in school? Or complete took time off?

I worked during the program. It is difficult but doable. You do what you have to do if necessary. If you are able to go through without the stress of working, it is certainly a lot easier. I also still had to take A&PI and II and Micro. It depends on the person, I think.

Hi~

I hope everyone had a Wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.

Hi! Congrats on getting in the program. I know that you'll love it. Each of my teachers last semester gave me special insight as to what it means to be a nurse, and how to work towards that goal. I think the best part is that they (the instructors) try to get your brain into thinking as a nurse from the very beginning. You will see that nurses are not just robotic puppets that perform a skill when asked, but are an independent critical thinker who is constantly assessing and analyzing (his)/her decisions.

We have just one more week to go. I'll see you in the hallways soon. *GRIN*

Wondering if anyone out there is a SCC nursing student or pre req. student. I am curently in Bio 211, has anyone taken this class from Tod? Looking for study tips for his testing methods.
