Starting a thread for applicants of the ADN program at Southwestern College for Fall 2021.
I was sent an email confirming my application was received by the nursing department this week.
I believe my points are 87 if they accept my life experiences and special circumstances.
With past semesters stats, I’m not too worried about my position. I might apply at Grossmont and City, but I prefer Southwestern because of their partnership with SDSU (PLNU has a poor NCLEX pass rate ?).
***Please read the Southwestern nursing department web site for common questions such as: when to expect acceptance, prerequisites, start dates, etc. “To be a nurse takes initiative!”***
Remember anxiety will not speed up the process or increase your odds of acceptance ?

Accepting for sure. I was rejected by Mira Costa, and I prefer SWC over Grossmont. I worked my a** off and have hit every obstacle imaginable for the last 9 years trying to get to this point. Couldn’t be happier!

Why do you prefer SWC over Grossmont? I would like to get peoples opinions on those schools, Im also between Grossmont if I get accepted and SWC leaning more on Grossmont though
I mentioned this earlier in the thread, but SWC has a partnership with SDSU. You can work on your BSN while still in school for your ADN, all while paying SWC tuition prices. You’d have only one more semester after graduating with your ADN to finish your BSN.
Grossmont, and most other ADN programs down here, partner with PLNU. I’m not a fan of their NCLEX pass rate history, private school tuition, or religious affiliation.

Interesting! thanks for the reply. I wonder how the course load would be having to take BSN courses while doing the ADN, but thats an interesting pathway.
It’s only one or two additional courses each semester I think (minus the first semester, they only allow second semester ADN students for the program). There’s more info on the program at the bottom of the SWC ADN webpage. Check it out!
I have a ton of nurses at my disposal in case I need help ?
