Southwestern College ADN Fall 2021

Published

Starting a thread for applicants of the ADN program at Southwestern College for Fall 2021.

I was sent an email confirming my application was received by the nursing department this week.

I believe my points are 87 if they accept my life experiences and special circumstances.

With past semesters stats, I’m not too worried about my position. I might apply at Grossmont and City, but I prefer Southwestern because of their partnership with SDSU (PLNU has a poor NCLEX pass rate ?).

***Please read the Southwestern nursing department web site for common questions such as: when to expect acceptance, prerequisites, start dates, etc. “To be a nurse takes initiative!”***

Remember anxiety will not speed up the process or increase your odds of acceptance ?

Hi

Here is my breakdown: CNA: 25 sciences :25  fixed set GPA: 6 Life experience: 5 foreign language: 3 TEAS (86.7) 22 points. If they award all life experience points, I will have 86 points. I will turn in my application tomorrow but I dnt feel too confident. I am currently enrolled in subjects that will satisfy my AA just in case I will need to re-apply. Just thinking ahead? it is somehow a relief to know that some schools are opening up for ADN. Hopefully, it will lighten the competition.

when you guys did your physical did they do the hearing portion of it ?

Be careful about getting your AA. If you receive financial aid, you’ll have to petition for assistance for any additional degrees (I.e. ADN). That’s why I never applied for graduation.

Yes, my physical included a hearing test. It was on the physical paperwork. I would call/email the nursing department to ask if it is required. You still have time to correct the paperwork.

Just turned in my application tonight... I am missing one hep b shot but it has been scheduled for April 30. Informed lorena thru email about it and she told me to hold on to the immunization form  so it can be filled up when I get the shot. She just told me to send copies of my vaccines nd lab. And that I will have a chance to forward it when I get selected. Now, the waiting game begins. Im nervous. I only have 86 points if all points are accepted. Hoping to make it with what I have right now.

Does anyone know how long our statements needs to be for the extra personal points? and if there’s a specific format the statements have to be?

@Isabella_p123 the guidelines say 4-6 sentences. Short and simple to the point is what a counselor told me

After doing my SEP meeting with a counselor, I realized my points are at 92! She was saying to make sure to really utilize the extra points for life experiences and maximize those extra points. Good luck everyone!!
