Southwestern College ADN Fall 2019

Hi everyone! I’m starting this thread so we can share our application criteria points with each other! I just turned in my application today. I have between 85 and 88 points. I have 3 B’s on my science prerequisites :((, 4.0 gpa for all the general Ed courses. I have fluency in Spanish, an associates degree, CNA, and volunteer experience. I scored an 88 on my TEAS! I hope they can look past my grades in my prerequisite courses and I get in!!! I hope we all get into this cohort! Good luck everyone

Stay positive! I'm sure you are good. I am sure there are still multiple people that are not going to enroll. Or so I hope. A lot of people may have gone to the orientation, but may not follow through on all the complio stuff. Not everyone informs the school that they have decided on going elsewhere. That is what I am hoping atleast.... Grossmont just had their orientation. And not sure when palomar's is or was.

Speaking of grossmont, didn't you get accepted there? If so, did you know of anyone that went to southwestern's orientation as well as grossmonts?

No that wasn’t me unfortunately. If I was accepted to Grossmont I would’ve taken that one for sure! I’m going to apply there in July if I don’t get accepted into the SWC program

Hi everyone,

I was accepted to both Grossmont and Southwestern. I attended both orientations because I was not sure of my decision. But after attending Grossmont’s Orientation, I decided to give up my spot at SWC. I informed them on Monday. I’m not sure if that was the spot filled or if there are more.

Congrats! What made you go with grossmont.? Just curious.

I decided to go to Grossmont for a few reasons . Mainly because it was very organized and the commute was much easier for me. I’ve also heard positive reviews from other people in the program. The decision was difficult because they are both great programs!

Honestly I feel it's going to be so crazy for this cohort at southwestern from all the changes. So I'm not looking forward to it but it's closer to my house and I hate traffic. Does grossmont use ATI?

I agree, I was worried about that too!! But change can be good! ? and I’ve been told they do use ATI.

Hi. Yea that was me. Im accepted at grossmont but alternate at SWC.

After going to both orientations I agree that both are amazing schools. I am telling myself to only check once a day (talk about tempting) with SWC to see if I got bumped up.

Im trying to work something out with my job so that Grossmont will work that way I don’t have to wait all summer and I can give the person behind me a spot up on the alternate list at SWC.

Have you been calling swc everyday? Or you mean checking your email once a day?

ALTERNATES!! Check your emails. They sent out a “change in status statement” email letting us know that they could tell us at any point up until the first day of class. Just thought I’d let you know in case you didn’t see the email!
