Southwestern College ADN Fall 2019

Published

Hi everyone! I’m starting this thread so we can share our application criteria points with each other! I just turned in my application today. I have between 85 and 88 points. I have 3 B’s on my science prerequisites :((, 4.0 gpa for all the general Ed courses. I have fluency in Spanish, an associates degree, CNA, and volunteer experience. I scored an 88 on my TEAS! I hope they can look past my grades in my prerequisite courses and I get in!!! I hope we all get into this cohort! Good luck everyone

You never know what it means.... I just pray I'm not an alternate. ?

I really can't take the anticipation much longer, and to have to anticipate whether a spot will open up, should I be an alternate would be really difficult for me. When your whole life is depending on this, it's hard to be okay with or not stressed with the "unknown."

But I absolutely love the instructors I have had at southwestern, for the CNA program. I really hope I get in. I have had some instructors throughout my education that don't seem to care, but they are different there. ?

Fingers crossed!

I looked back at other cohorts and they received an email at 9, 12 and 4pm. So that's usually when I go check my email. After 4 I don't expect an email.

I know what you mean. Waiting even longer as an alternate, definitely after this very long extended notice, would be absolute torture. But looking at past alternates, they all got in so if I had to choose a definite denial or a possible acceptance. I would pick the possible acceptance. I have not been to southwestern at all. I was hoping their professors were good. I went to Mesa for my associates.

I told you, you should have nothing to worry about!

The only worrying is if u will be in the day/week group, or the night/weekend group. And I bet you will have first pick. You will be fine!

Lol thanks. If they took the time to call you for paperwork I'm sure you got in!!!! There are only 20 spots for night/weekend group, correct?

No clue... Good question. ?

Hi all,

As a current SWC student I can tell you that they are still going over applications - but I bet they're close. I know this must be torture for you! SWC has a new Director so things are new to him - my only thought about timing. He is a really nice man though and very supportive of students.

I was on the waiting list and got in (and I know many others who got in as well). However, I do know someone who was on the waiting list and did not get in. Things may be totally different this time though because of the timing, so I don't think this year can be compared to others. Maybe there is a higher or lower likelihood of people keeping their spots because they already know about all of the other schools.

For my year I think 78+ were accepted. And I think I had at least a 75. At orientation we were asked to fill out a card that said whether we wanted days or weekend/evenings (w/e). I actually think that most people usually want days. Best of luck to all of you!

Hi guys, I called earlier and the lady said they know who’s in n out. But doesn’t know when they will send emails out.

May I please ask you when was your orientation? I am just curious because I may be out of town.

They already know who they are accepting and who they are denying? I figured they're calling people they're considering to accept to get missing info but dont know how long it will take for them to get everything from everyone.?

They are working on things so do not know when they will be done - so they cannot give a date. Trust me, there is not a finalized list sitting there that just needs to be sent out.

Aspiring DNP - that is some great critical thinking there! ?
