Southwestern College ADN Fall 2019

Published

Hi everyone! I’m starting this thread so we can share our application criteria points with each other! I just turned in my application today. I have between 85 and 88 points. I have 3 B’s on my science prerequisites :((, 4.0 gpa for all the general Ed courses. I have fluency in Spanish, an associates degree, CNA, and volunteer experience. I scored an 88 on my TEAS! I hope they can look past my grades in my prerequisite courses and I get in!!! I hope we all get into this cohort! Good luck everyone

They are working on things so do not know when they will be done - so they cannot give a date. Trust me, there is not a finalized list sitting there that just needs to be sent out.

Aspiring DNP - that is some great critical thinking there! ?

Lol thanks! How is the program? You are graduating this year? Are the professors nice and helpful?

My friend got into the program last year and they never called her for paperwork so if you don’t get a call, that doesn’t mean they aren’t considering your application/grades. This wait is crazy but just keep holding on everyone. Best of luck to all of you. ❤️

I was called on Friday at around 4:30pm about my immunizations. The lady was a Professor and told me to email them to her by Monday. I sent them this morning and she never replied back to my email. I’m hoping the fact that they asked about my immunizations is a good sign for me!

Well another day ?

dang all these call backs for immunization and i havent had anything back ? my points are at 80 and this WAIT TOO LONG

Hi all,

As a current SWC student I can tell you that they are still going over applications - but I bet they're close. I know this must be torture for you! SWC has a new Director so things are new to him - my only thought about timing. He is a really nice man though and very supportive of students.

I was on the waiting list and got in (and I know many others who got in as well). However, I do know someone who was on the waiting list and did not get in. Things may be totally different this time though because of the timing, so I don't think this year can be compared to others. Maybe there is a higher or lower likelihood of people keeping their spots because they already know about all of the other schools.

For my year I think 78+ were accepted. And I think I had at least a 75. At orientation we were asked to fill out a card that said whether we wanted days or weekend/evenings (w/e). I actually think that most people usually want days. Best of luck to all of you!

Hi, thank you for this info! Do you know if step-ups are also given the option to fill out a card to chose their preferred schedule? Also, do you happen to know the schedule for days vs. weekend/evenings?

If you have high points and did not get a call, maybe you had everything you needed - or they are not to your name yet.

Professors all truly care about students. They are changing up the the curriculum so things may be different for your cohort.

You will use ATI - find "Level Up RN, Cathy Parkes!" I did not use ATI but those who were successful with it swear by Cathy Parkes.

First term you have 2 classes. Day had both lectures on one day, Tuesday I think, and a clinical all day another day. W/E class one day from 5-7 and another from 1-7 (or 3-7, I don't remember), then clinical all day Saturday. But things may be different for the incoming cohort.

I was told we would know today, if not tomorrow. I'm confident we will be notified tomorrow.

I was told that they still don’t have the list yet, they are still going through applications to finalize it all.

I'm so nervous ? one of my friends applied to chico CSU and their point cut off was 93 points!!!???

I know southwestern's cut off wont be anywhere near that but just thought I'd share because it's so crazy!!!
