Southwestern College ADN Fall 2018 Cohort

Published

I just wanted to start a topic for this upcoming Southwestern ADN cohort (Fall 2018)! What are everyone's stats? (GPA, Teas, etc). I'm also applying at San Diego City, Palomar College, Grossmont and National University.

Yes, you're allowed to work :) They suggest only working a total of 20 hours per week though. But my friend said there's people that do work full time and have graduated. Do you plan on working through the program?

Thanks for replying! Yes, I plan on working through the

program. But I know it's gonna be hard hard though.

Hey guys for my teas score, do i have to mail my score to the campus or can i just print it out and attach to my application? Please and thank you!

I e-mailed the nursing department about this. The coordinator replied and she said to attach a copy of your score with the application.

Okk perfect thank you!

Hey guys, I have a question. How hard it is to get a cna job with no experience? I got my license in 2016 and did not find a cna job because I was working full time and taking the ore reqs for nursing school.

Awww you're welcome! And yeah it's possible! I plan on working too 😩 and about your CNA question.. it is very possible to get a CNA job w no experience! I applied at my current job and have been there now for three years :) Especially nursing homes.. they're always hiring!

Is your guys CNA license the size similar to that of a CPR card? I was shocked how small my CNA license really is.

Hi all! Are any of you applying for the LVN-RN Step Up for Fall 2018 or are just the generic 2 year program? I'm an LVN that applied for the Step Up, just turned in my application 3 days ago. I got accepted last year but declined for a great job opportunity and am back to apply again. I had 83 points last year and have 84 points this year.

Hi! I am applying for the generic program. If you get accepted at southwestern, do you know if they require a nursing success course to be taken before the actual nursing program?

Hi @marie0988, I don't believe I've heard of anything like that, at least for the Step Up program. I am not too sure if the same applies for the generic program. Could you elaborate a little bit on what the nursing success course is? Is it something that other schools require? Because I don't think I remember seeing anything similar to that on website; I think once you submit your application and you're accepted, you're in and you just begin the normal courses!

I was also told by my counselor during my SEP meeting that this year's average points is seemingly lower than last year's. This is strictly hearsay, but gives me the feeling that it'll be easier to get into the program this time around! Hope that applies for both the Step Up and the generic program! :)

I'm trying to apply for the step up program too! I might take my teas Monday and submit after that depending on how my score is. Do u know how many lvns have applied so far?
