Southwest TN Community College Spring 09

Published

Hello Everyone, can somebody tell me if they got their letters from SWCC in TN? I got accepted to Union University but I really want to know If I got in to Southwest because It is cheaper and I can work while being in school (I know Union is a better program..I already have a bachelors..) Thanks:nuke:

I was in the 99th percentile with a 156.

HEY YALL SCORES ARE OUTSTANDING!!!I SCORED 108.I KNOW I NEED TO TAKE IT OVER!

Yeah, I just took mine today. I usually stink at math, but I think I did pretty good in that section. I did horrible in science, I got a lot of physics questions. I wont get my score for 2-3 weeks! Then they said that if you don't score at least 100, they won't consider you for the program and you have to wait 6 MONTHS before you take it again. I think I am going to apply for University of Memphis and Baptist. Just in case (and I have that feeling) that I won't get accpeted into southwest.

Man, for such a nursing shortage, you would think that a Community college would be more accepting!

JUst b/c there is a shortage, standards should not be lowered.

amen to that!

the lady said that their highest score was a 139.

I made a 157.

Bicster, congratulations! Brace yourself for a rollercoaster ride and hang in there! It is a TOUGH program, and you will find that many of the classmates that you start with will not make it. I just finished my second semester and am now 50% through nursing school! Congratulations!

You have to remember that the community college graduates have to take and pass the same test that the BSN students have to take. That basically means that you are cramming everything that you have to know in 2 years vs. 4 years. It is not easy, and lowering the standards would simply lead to more nursing school failures.

Any advice for studying the 1st year?

Know your meds and remember that ANYTHING goes on the tests. Just because they did not make something seem that important doesnt mean that you won't be tested on it. And remember that when you have to select the priority nursing action, you ALWAYS assess first!!

I didn't study at all and made a 115... Its not great, but its above 100. I currently have about a 2.8 almost a 2.9.. Are these grades too low? I am really worried I will not get in!

I was accepted this spring. They base admittance on GPA (x1), A&P I & II, Microbiology grades (x4 each) and NLN scores (10%). I had a 2.7 gpa, A's in all 3 classes, and 144 on the NLN exam. So, my overall ranking number was 65.1. Your GPA is only weighted by one so it is your grades in the sciences classes and the NLN that matters the most.

Well, I think I am way screwed. I got Cs in both my anatomy classes cause I took them at a different school out of state and they were way hard, but I got an A in micro last semester. So, Ana I C, Ana II C, and Micro A, Then a 115 on NLN and a 2.9 -3.0 GPA. I dunno if I am going to get in!!!

I remember when I was a STCC student preparing for the nursing program. I made an A in A&P I, B in A&P II and a B in Microbiology all of which I took in Summer. I had a 3.36 cummulative GPA and a 137 on the NLN.

I didn't receive a letter either, instead, I got a phone call letting me know I was accepted to STCC. I chose to go to Baptist, which i'm in the process of transfering from. I've decided to try to enter the U of M nursing program.
