Hello Everyone :) I would like some info on the Northwest Community College LPN program at the Senatobia Campus and the Desoto Campus. I live in Memphis but I am planning on commuting. I want to get into either one of this programs, to start on the Fall 2010 I received a letter from the Desoto Campus, I am taking the NET exam today April 21,2010, I know the Senatobia asks for the TEAS. How much do you have to make in the exams to get in? Is there an interview or after the exam it is simply a letter of you are in or not? How many do they accept each class? Anoyone has some recommendations, experiences to share? What is the schedule? How competitive is it really to get in? Thanks for the input

Hi Shandra! It is not impossible to get into Union. I think the difference is that compared to the other schools in the memphis area they evaluate the indivudual as a whole and they dont base themselves on a simple ranking (because no offense your grades are not going to be the same if you took you classes at a Community college or at Harard.. you know what I mean?) The deadline is July 1st each year. By that time you have to have at least 5 of your prerequisites completed out of the 7. The prerequisites are the following: A&P I and II, Micro, General Psych, Developmental Psych, Statistics and Pathopysiology (everyone takes this class the fall semester after getting accepted). In my case I had 5 done by july 1st and took micro and patho in the fall. The minimun GPA is a 2.8, and you need to write an essay as well. After you send that they will send you a letter saying if you are being inteviewed or not and if you need to take a test. If you get an interview you go there and take the test and get interviewed the same day. The interview is fairly relaxed, how do you deal with stress? Why do you want to become a nurse? What does an accelerated program mean to you?. I will tell you this.. it was more tedious to get into Union but at the same time the people that worked there where incredibly understanding and helpful. My class starts Jan 5th and Ends Dec 20th 2009. You go to class a lot but in the end its only one year and you are off to work and make money to pay the loans. There are 2 campuses each accepting aprox 30 something students. I am going to Jackson there is one in Germaantown but it is harder to get in, the more prerequisites you have done the better is your chance to get into germantown. I hope this is helpul! Sorry if it is too long. I am happy I made the decision I made. After all I sacrifice a year but I will graduate early and be in the working world earlier compared if I had gone to the other schools. If you are in no hurry to graduate then consider other options.

Wow thats awesome! I was arround the 86% percentile isnt your score the highest SWCC has ever seen? the lady said that their highest score was a 139. Congrats! Are you still thinking about doing Union? I start Jan 05 so I can tell you how it goes

I scored a 121 but I decided to go to Union university this January cause I couldnt keep waiting for SWCC to reply. I am an international Student so I need to get my visa and all that paperwork in place. So I will have my BSN in Dec 2009 I am excited! the math part was the hardest cause you cant use a calculator the rest was fairly ok.You will be fine

Hello Everyone, can somebody tell me if they got their letters from SWCC in TN? I got accepted to Union University but I really want to know If I got in to Southwest because It is cheaper and I can work while being in school (I know Union is a better program..I already have a bachelors..) Hello everyone... I need some advice... I got accepted to Union University accelerated program in Jackson , TN, I am in the alternate list for University of Memphis. I havent gotten my answer for Southwest evening program.. I got a 121 in the NLN, 3.00 gpa, got A&P I and II and finished micro but just send my transcript so I do not think I will get those points for the ranking. I already have a bachelors in Natural Science are my chances at SWCC good?

Congratulations! The classes are 32 in size. I applied to Jackson. There is one class in germantown (32) and another class in Jackson (32) haven't checked my mail since I am on vacation now away from home. Congrats again!

I have not recieved mine either... I am actually relieved to know I am not the only one who has not recieved one yet! Did all of you interviewed the 7th for the accelerated BSN in Jackson? Anyone knows how many people they interview and how many actually get in? I know my interview day there were 18 people being interviewed... thanks in advance

Another question are you allowed a calculator and some paper when you sit for the teas at Union? Thanks sorry for the million questions!

Thank you so much for all the help! I already ordered the TEAS review book and all that to start studying right away. Does anyone know the acceptance rate for this program?. I originally wanted to go to Germantown but they called me and asked me if I would be interested in going to Jackson (I am still completing Pre-requisites) and since union is my first choice I decided it would be worth it (I live in Memphis). How big is the Jackson class? Thanks in advance!
