Southern Crescent tech College Spring 2022

Southern Crescent Technical College Spring 2022 Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Hello everyone! I wanted to go ahead and create a thread for those who plan on applying to southern crescent ASN program for the Spring of 2022. I know the application is due August so lets chat and get aquainted! Im a transfer student and I had a few of my credits. I just needed to take the TEAS and AP 1 and 2, but I was told to retake my english courses 1 and 2 over due to getting a C at my old school. Also that I should pass those classes with A's cuz the program is so competitive and that people with C's hardly never make it in. That definitely scared me but I have faith.

But as far as the TEAS, what are you guys using to study? cuz im so nervous to take it. Overall this is a safe thread, no judgement and to help each other out.

Aikena, I have been out of school for 28 years so the TEAS is very possible to pass. I joined several facebook study groups and also found a 4-day class that a community college was giving. I studied with 6 books, 1 app on my phone (when I was away and had time to catch 10 questions at a time). I also purchased the momentrix online guide and purchased 2 practice test. I used Bradon Kraft Math and Carolyn McAllister TEAS English. I can tell you that it took me 3 months of studying! This was true honest studying. I missed lunches with friends and time with my husband because I wanted to get into this program. I am a returning 2nd career student. I had a "B" in A&P 2 and Growth and Development. Last fall, I took these two classes over. I knew to be competitive I needed an "A" in these classes. I went in with a 4.0 GPA and I believe that helped. I can tell you that I worked very hard to receive that acceptance letter!

To respond to your statement that the number of spots of 50 was unfair the school doesn't set how many students that they can accept. They of course would love to take 500 because that means more money for them. This is set by the hospitals within the community. The hospitals can only handle so many students at one time. Schools also have to compete with each other for those spots. There are several schools that use these hospitals for clinical rotations. You are going to run into this in any state and any school.

I want to say this while being very respectful at the same time. I have learned nothing in life is fair. If you think the TEAS is hard I can assure you that Nursing School is harder. The TEAS is just a way to weed people out that won't be successful in the program. The TEAS has an algorithm set within the program that rates the success that the student will probably have in a Nursing School. Schools want to make sure their pass rates stay above a certain point because if they don't they will lose accreditation. Any school wants only wants the students who will have the best success at passing! Look at the TEAS as only a hurdle that you need to jump to reach your goal. If you really want to do this you will reach deep into your gut, study hard and pass the TEAS. The rest will fall into place. Good luck with your future endeavors.  You can do this if it is your dream to become a nurse!

Hello, does anyone has study tips for the TEAS test. I need to take it soon currently an SCTC student but may transfer to Ga state perimeter if I get accepted into the program applying in January. I need a study group HELP. 300 Students applied to SCTC only 50 got in this is unfair. I wish they get rid of the TEAS like some community colleges in Ohio did.

Thank you so much

If you don't mind meeting me at the school next week I can get an SD card and put a bunch of the study materials that I used on it. I don't mind doing that for you. I can also bring my computer and show you some of the FB groups that I used that were very helpful. Just let me know. I promise you can do this!

Do you know which campus Ga Perimeter offer the nursing program?

I unfortunately didn’t get accepted into the RN program at Southern Crescent so I’m exploring other options. Considering applying to the LPN program but ultimately being an RN is my goal. I’ve tried to research LPN-RN bridge programs in my area but I haven’t had luck finding a lot of info. I don’t want to feel like I’m spending all this time and tuition to be an LPN just to turn around and do it all over again for RN. If anyone has any insight on this topic please lend me options and ideas. Also I’m praying and staying hopeful that if seats became available I’ll get a call back but I’m not sure how likely that is. For anyone that got accepted this cohort, by what date do you have to accept your seat?

I just moved to GA a year ago. I don't even know where Perimeter College is located at.

I wouldn't give up hope yet. You still may get a seat in the program. There were 99 people that applied that didn't meet the qualifications to apply. I would say that some of the people that got seats in the program will not accept them because like you many have applied to multiple locations. I didn't apply at multiple schools because I am very close to the Henry campus. I do know that many don't know that the vaccine is required. I would imagine that there will be some of those who got seats that refuse to get the vaccine. So, this will mean that seats will open up.

How many total points did you have? So take your GPA and add your TEAS score and you should have a score in the 400's. I think the lowest score this year so far was a 457.

That’s what I’m hoping but I just wish there was a way to know sooner. The lowest score was a 456.6 and I applied with a 447.6 so I was 9 points away. I seen a post from last year where applicants got callbacks in December to start the upcoming term in January so that made me hopeful.
